ok once my husband is approved of his visa and etc..he gets a greencard in the us and its only good for 2 years? the we apply for AOS? but wait.... what if he doesnt want to become a citizen? how long can he be a green card holder?

If your husband is issued the CR-1 visa, which entitles him to the 2 GC - there is no AOS from LPR? You petition to ROC - which if approved, he gets the 10 year GC. He never has to become a citizen - he can remain a LPR as long as he renews the GC every 10 years.

You bet! You can prepare to cross the ROC bridge as that time approaches, I agree, the immigration buffet should be one plate at a time.

My ex stayed a green card holder for more than 20 years.

You can stay a GC holder as long as you want only caveat is anytime for any reason in future if you need to be absent for more than 6 months you'll need advance parole ( good for 2 years) and if for some reason you are absent for more than 2 years then you'd land in soup again. He can also be removed from US as a GC holder back to his own country under special conditions such as criminal behaviour etc.

US doesnt have any problems with dual citizenship anymore. You could get a citizenship if your current country allows dual citizenship and be done with immigration in future. Getting citizenship is pretty much then end of the road until you need to sponsor anyone.

Advance parol is for leaving BEFORE you get a green card, reentry permit is for leaving after you get one, you have better keep paying those taxes no matter what, and not all criminal behavior gets you in trouble. I can't believe the things my ex fessed up to and still got to be a USC.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
