do affidavits have to be notarized?

The USCIS instructions do not specify, so I'm wondering if the affidavits to accompany the I-751 have to be notarized? This is an extra hassle and expense for the folks I'm asking to write them, so if it's not required, I won't ask them to do that.

I did not get mine notarized it would have been very difficult to get the six different people to a notary. It was hard enough to find time to meet and get them to sign. However I am still awaiting their reply so it remains to be seen if speed of replying trumps authenticity of the documents.

Most banks have notarizes for free...just FYI. I had mine notarized and no one had to pay for it.

I've heard both ways, that they do and do not have to be notarized, so I'm not sure what the deal is. I think if you have any evidence without them, that it won't matter if they are notarized or not, but if they are crucial part of your evidence, you should get them notarized.

Si, man. A very sharp immigration attorney told me that affidavits for ROC are not required if other evidence is sufficient, but that USCIS suggests them for inclusion by people whose other evidence is thin.
