Just got off the phone with DOS. A very nice lady (I missed her name, as usual) said I'm good to go at NVC... they're just waiting on the next available interview date in Kingston.

Calling back tonight.

CONGRATS MY DEAR, I KNOW THE BIG FEELING OF RELIEF!!!!

CASE COMPLETE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So excited....the operator gave me the same line about the NVC being done scheduling interviews for this month...we'll see!!

First off congratulations on your case complete!

If they are truly done scheduling interviews until next month I will probably lose it. I can't imagine Buenos Aires or Santiago have already exhausted their appointments for May. I just called the DOS, but the operator said nothing had been scheduled yet. At first he couldn't find either case then he checked another database and found it. I will probably call NVC later tonight if I don't get an email from them.

As I understand it the embassies and consulates throughout the world send the NVC a list of open interview dates for the following month by the 2nd week of the month. The NVC then assigns interviews based on the case complete date until that embassy or consulate no longer has any open slots. I would think that as more cases are completed that they would continue to schedule interviews as long as there are open slots. There is evidence that this is the case by those that received their interview dates after the second week of the month.

All I want is an interview date in May so we can start planning for life together here in the US. Come on NVC, don't let me down!

Thank you!!! I know, my husband and I agreed that it seems unlikely that Buenos Aires has completely filled up for May--and I can't imagine that Santiago has either. It feels like there aren't many of us out there compared to other consulates.

We also had some doubts about what good it does to call NVC or DOS now. I may have misunderstood, but don't we get an email after our interview is scheduled? Or is it only when the consulate receives the case?

Wow...I was nosing around and somehow found the montreal consulate interview self-schedule page. I know people say CR-1s aren't supposed to schedule their own interviews, so I stopped just at the point before you can hit the button to finalize an appointment. EEK. At no point did it stop me though, at all...wonder what would have happened if I'd just kept clicking...

USCIS (192 days, August 24 2011 to March 2 2012. No RFE's).
NVC (30 days, March 12 to April 11. Case expedited due to NVC errors).

The only good that comes from calling NVC and DOS is you find out your interview date asap. Yes, everyone gets an interview letter package as soon as a date has been scheduled, but it can take a few hours to receive, thus the reason for calling. So, if you just want to wait for the email, that is perfectly okay!

Yeah, the scheduling page is only for K-1 applicants and those that need to re-schedule. Anyone can get to it though through CSC. I would NOT recommend scheduling one though as it will most likely cause major issues. Plus, the only available dates (unless someone recently cancelled) will most likely be in June and beyond.

Yeah, they need to redesign their system so only those that actually HAVE to schedule online are able to. Big flaw in their site headbonk.gif
