The petitioner is the one that petitions for the foreign spouse, so, that'd be you, the USC.

The beneficiary is the foreign spouse, so your husband in Mexico.

If you're not already, I'd suggest following the optin template I have in my wiki, linked in my signature below.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for a speedy case number and expedite approval!

Yay, grats! kicking.gif

thank you

See Sheeshka's answer below :)

This is some guesswork on my part as I don't know how it works when there's two cases (two parents or parent and child). But if they're linked up, I think it means that you just need to send one AOS package: an "original" for one of your parents using their case number and information, and then a "duplicate" for your other parent. For the IV package, in the "original" one for one of your parents, include their own DS-230 and documents, and then your original documents. In the "duplicate" package instead the IV package, you'd then include the DS-230 of the other parent as well as their documents, and then simply photocopies of your documents as well. In your case, I'd highly suggest writing a cover letter for all packages to explain why some things are photocopies.

I'd also recommend you call up NVC and ask this question to an operator. And do this a MINIMUM of five (5) times. Their answers may vary and you should take what the majority of them say.

Thank you very much!

hahahahahaha! That's funny!!

When I had to go through and figure out dates he was visiting here, to fill out the DS-260, I went through and checked the Skype logs. The big gaps in calls were the dates he was here, or I was there!

I'm starting to think I will have to wait the 'manditory' three weeks after CC to get my interview date. I just wish I knew, so I can buy my plane ticket to Winnipeg!!

I called NVC again today and still no case nor case number, May told me to call back next week. I am going to call this afternoon.

We have the same NOA2 date! Hope we both get a case number soon! I just called and spoke with Olivia. No case number and she told me our case hasn't been received yet. Same old thing about not calling until next week. I'm calling again tomorrow.

I finally got my NVC case number today  Now we get things moving.

Congrats on getting your case number!! Your post is what got me to call today!

LOL!!! Lists are amazing. I have a few tacked up on my wall...my plan is to give away what I need to, sell what I can, and take the rest :) Hopefully 2-3 bags - that shouldnt' be lost on a plane! how are your lists coming?

Yep...we figured from the start, we needed to talk every day - and not just meaningless talk. We talk about absolutely everything, non stop...we watch movies and cook together over skype, when we "go out to eat", we order the same thing and eat it in front of skype. It's kind of sad, but technology is FABULOUS! This process would have been a LOT harder without it, for sure.

Shell, my Hubby and I are on webcam every day too. Our friends and family laugh at us when we tell them that we eat together, watch tv/movies together, sleep together, etc. When Carl was putting our I-130 package together, I was on cam with him and we went through everything together to make sure we hadn't missed/forgotten anything. I'm just glad the technology is there. It certainly isn't the same as actually BEING together, but for sure this process would be so much harder without being able to SEE one another every day. :luv:

I just want everyone to know how much coming to this forum helps. Even the difficult situations some are having can prepare 'you' for what might come up with your own case, feel for those who are experiencing things that you know won't (a pregnancy close to term and possibly not being there for the arrival of their child, etc.). The smooth ones give hope for the same experience! I get so excited for those of you who are so close to the end of this process and know it's how I'll feel for myself when I'm at that point. You're a fantastic group of people and the support and information found here is invaluable.

Have a great day everyone! :D

Your list is correct. That is all you need to send to NVC.

You, the beneficiary, do not send in or sign any affidavit of support evidence. That is up to the petitioner, the USC, to send to NVC.

If you get your expedite, there's a chance.

There's been an exodus of people coming to the US since the earthquake. That is why Haiti petitioners get through USCIS very fast, but they get held up for months at NVC. Those not expedited have to wait their turn in line. Unfortunately, they have a long wait.

IT is wonderful to talk to people going through the exact same thing.

For a while I couldn't log on here and read things during the USCIS stage. We had such a long wait, I hated seeing people that filed months after us getting NOA2s, flying through NVC, and getting interviews, while we sat in CSC. (for the past year, we have been the longest to get through USCIS, with out an RFE)

It got to the point we doubted ourselves. That we made the wrong decision and I should have kept my application for PR in Canada going. It took forever to get through USCIS, but there was a silver lining to that. Darnell, of all people (LOL), pointed out. Because it took so long we could get an IR-1 visa and tell USCIS to stuff it for the next 10 years. Or we could file for his citizenship after three years of his IR-1, and tell USCIS to stuff it for good!

Then I started to cheer up. I started to make friends, I found an awesome kindred spirit in Shell. I have someone to share triumphs with, and someone to cry with me. I have a whole community of people that UNDERSTAND!! Sure, your family backs you up, but they don't understand. They don't know what it's like, the paperwork, the stress.

When I see people getting their NOA2, their cases complete, getting interviews it makes me happy. I get excited for them! They now have their happy ending. Eventually we all will have ours too!

If you get your expedite, there's a chance.

There's been an exodus of people coming to the US since the earthquake. That is why Haiti petitioners get through USCIS very fast, but they get held up for months at NVC. Those not expedited have to wait their turn in line. Unfortunately, they have a long wait.

Hum ok i see what you mean but otherwise ( if no expedite), June 30th would make me 3 month and should get it late in june( 23 days before my wife due date)

can anyone here kindly tell me what should the beneficiary do and prepare on this NVC stage? im so confused cuz i got so many different info

all i know is, i must:

1. fill out DS 230 part 1 and 2, sign part 1 only though

2. enclosed/prepare my photos (2"x2")

3. give Original/certified copy of my Birth Certificate

4. Give original/certified copy of Marriage Certificate

5. give copy of biodata passport

what else? should i sign any other documents? a tax form may be?? i heard abt this from a friend, is it true?

i'm sorry, i know there is a bunch of information here on VJ that i can read, but it's too many u know, and sometimes it's different (i know every case varies) but this Tax form-thingy makes me confused  ...please help. Thank u :)

Yup, that's everything you need to send. You also need to include photocopies of 3 and 4. This is so the originals/certified copies are returned to you at the time of the interview and they keep the photocopies for their records.

The only document you sign is DS-230, part 1. Do NOT sign part 2, that's done in front of a CO at the interview.

The tax form you're referring to, the AOS package, is completed by the petitioner.

I'd suggest just going to the first post in this thread and reading the first few links to guides about NVC. You don't need to read every post in this thread, just that first one. I put those links together for a reason, to help guide people through NVC.

After calling NVC and emailing them my NOA2 i was still not satisfied with the response that they have not received my case yet. So I called USCIS.... this right here earks my soul. 1st rep yad yad yad ure telling me what im reading on my NOA2 u make no sence, transfer me to a supervisor. Supervisor like he just drank some Vodka cus he not making sence either, telling me that they have 90 days to mail it to NVC. I asked him so u telling me it take us 90 days for mail to get prepared and get to nvc? then i think he heard how stupid that just sound and tranfer me to and indian lady. ok im hype and ready for her..... here goes... her response was that my petition was mailed out on April 11th (noa2 dater mar 21st) (that is 21 calendar days or 15 business days). what the french fries... Smoke is coming out my head, y they gonna wait so long? What, did it take that long to get the cobwebs off the file..grrrrr well id leave NVC alone till monday.

You have to keep in mind, your case is NOT the only one there. USCIS has to deal with HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of cases. I'm guessing they batch mail them out where needed.
