doesn't it depend entirely on the US Consulate in the beneficiary country?

Honestly I don't know anymore. I had started to believe NVC gets the available slots during the second week of April, but all the interviews assigned today contradicts that. And it wasn't even people who got their CC recently, it was people who got their CC even before me so that means that a new list must have arrived today. I guess some consulates just give NVC the list a little earlier. Who knows!!!

Nevertheless congrats to all who got their dates! Can't wait to be in your shoes.

Oh yeah and what is the different between consulate and embassy?

Don't forget the two passport pictures and medical results (unless your consulate/embassy is different). And proof of relationship is optional, but always recommended.

Ohhh, Sheraton, those are very nice hotels yes.gif

I thought I would bring 2 passport pictures too but according to the email they already recived them. Does NVC send them the once we sent there??

The medical result will be sent straight to the embassy from the doc's office. And the best proof of relationship I'll be bringing with me anyway, the baby!! :D

Oh yeah and what is the different between consulate and embassy?

A consulate is like a junior embassy. It's generally located in a busy tourist city, and takes care of minor diplomatic tasks such as issuing visas. The word consulate literally means office of the consul, who is a diplomat appointed to foster trade and take care of expatriates.

Embassies are much bigger deals. The word embassy comes from the French ambassy, or office of the ambassador. Ambassadors are high-ranking diplomatic representatives who serve as spokespersons for their national governments. If one country recognizes the sovereignty of another, they generally establish an embassy there. Embassies take care of the same administrative duties as consulates, but they also represent their governments abroad.

My policy is never leave anything blank. Either "N/A" where not applicable and "NONE" where none, e.g.,like A# for beneficiary would be "NONE" and not "N/A"and also "UNKNOWN" if information like fathers' name, if one does not know who their father is/was. Reason being, that it makes it obvious that the field was not un-noticed by the person completing the form.

I always thought an Embassy was a permanent post and a consulate is semi-permanent. For example Kenya has it's embassy in Washington DC, which is the permanent base while it's consulates in LA, California and New York are junior offices.

But are cities the equivalent of a US state? Cause each state here has a bunch of cities within it. What are in each city if this is the case, towns or something?

Yes, NVC forwards everything, but most consulates/embassies still require another set of 2 passport pictures. These will be the pictures used for the green card.

And technically, being pregnant isn't the best proof. It just means you had sex and got pregnant. Could have been with anyone for any reason. Just being Devil's Advocate here...

My policy is never leave anything blank. Yes, you're right, absolutely nothing should be left blank. I was asking a question to gather some information before responding.

True, but I'll have her birthcertificate saying he's the dad! Besides we sent in quite a few pics already.

I was also reading up on the latest reviews of the embassy made by people with recent interviews, they haven't been asked to show anything.

OK, I see....It should have been N/A under Provinces, Oh-Well, we will send it out FedEx overnight!

Well, technically, it should be 'none' as the question does apply to you, there just aren't any provinces in Hong Kong.

Just to make sure, there are absolutely zero gaps between the dates, right?

True, but I'll have her birthcertificate saying he's the dad! Besides we sent in quite a few pics already.

The birth certificate doesn't really mean anything either, except that your husband is the father. My point earlier was that, in fraud cases, two people can have sex and have a baby but not love each other, so it's not truly proof of a relationship. Although, if you think about it, most evidence can be fabricated as well. Anyone can say "I love you" to another person through email or chats and not mean it. Photos can be fabricated too. ANYWAYS. Not saying your case is fraudulent or anything, just saying being pregnant doesn't always mean it's proof, especially in strict countries like the Middle East or North Africa.

And your embassy sounds like Montreal where no evidence is asked of. Despite this, I still brought some. And yes, definitely bring extra passport pics. I had to hand in two at my interview, so...
