Proof of fiance relationship - emails, etc.

Does anyone know for sure whether or not we can "black out" personal information in the emails, chat logs, etc. we provide for proof of fiance relationship? I have heard both yes and no. I am just printing out all of our emails, chat logs, etc. and I have over 4000 sheets of paper here to sift through! Does anyone know if it is overkill to print out every single piece of communication? I don't want to have my fiance submit like 10 notebooks of proof if we really don't need to. I also would hate to black stuff out and then get "in trouble" for doing so. If anyone has any experience or information regarding the above I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. I mean it has almost been a year and we communicate every single day so that is a lot of proof. We also are trying to send letters to each other but because of the mail system in his country we rarely get each others mail - will that hurt us or do you think they will take the mail system into consideration? I can't wait for all of this to be over and have my man home with me.

I sent a few emails that my then fiancé had sent to me at work...nothing to black out in those. We didn't send chat logs...we sent plane ticket stubs, pages out of our passports, photos, that's about it. We didn't overkill, we figured why send them so much information to wade through, yanno?

Was this at the interview stage or for the initial I-129F packet? I am trying to prepare ahead of time for my fiance's interview so that is why I am thinking I have to send more than what I did with the original application.

Also, I don't think it's necessary to have every single piece of evidence printed out. Select e-mails/chat logs/letters that show content that would prove that you are indeed in a relationship. Personally, I think it's best to avoid blacking out stuff and going with the ones that wouldn't need any editing, as blacking out might rise questions - especially if you're dealing with a high fraud post (not sure whether Nigeria is one).

I have not been through the interview stage yet. That being said, I know that if I received evidence of any kind that had areas that had been blacked out, then the first thing that would come to my mind is "what is this person trying to hide".

I agree with Mew - only send what does not need to be blacked out and definitely do not send all 4000 pages. Just pick a few over the period.

Thank you all for the information. It is very helpful. I was under the impression that you had to submit EVERYTHING. I felt sick at the thought of someone reading our "intimate" correspondence because some stuff you just don't need to share with others, especially strangers. It's embarassing. But if that is what I had to do to get my honey here with me - then I would let them read away - LOL! Thanks again!

Charles' Angel is preparing evidence of ongoing relationship for the interview, and not of having met to send USCIS.

What I did was use YEmote-Offline Offline Arcive Viewer (for Yahoo Messenger) that showed pages for each day a chat log existed, then one sample page of chat from each month. You should be able to be selective enough going that route not to give them anything 'too' personal. I did the same on my email box, I did a search of my 'from and to' mail boxes just showing each day a mail was sent, and then included a few select examples.

The only thing I got an RFE for was had nothing to do with evidnece of our relationship, but for evidence of our actual meeting. I failed to include copies of my bank and credit card statements for the time I was in Thailand.

Others have goten by with much less, others have sent alot more - some say I got the RFE for sending too much, others for not enough - hard to say.

Whether or not they ask you for more I think has alot to do with the adjudicator, the country of your fiance, and other factors which we simply dont know but can only speculate about.

My personal observation has been that people who send tons of evidence, (even in one case as shipping box full of 'unsolicited' evdence was sent and got approved in less than 30 days), get approved faster and with less instances of an RFE going out , but you'll find plenty of people who disagree with me on this point.

The only two recommendations of attorneys I've seen posted, both said the same thing 'bury them with evidence' - and thats the side of the issue I come down on.

BTW I could not actually select 'print' for the page from the advanced searches, I just used a simple screen shot utility to print the inexes, you might be able to use a print screen function too. I included a detailed explanatin of what the screen shots were showing.

Sorry for being such an idiot - hehe - you're getting ready for the INTERVIEW (ya, I admit to being an idiot sometimes ) - I plan to do the same thing for the interview though. I will include a cover letter just stating that the evidence already submitted supports the ongoing relationship up until the I-129F was sent. The new evidence will support just the continuing ongoing relationship since the !-129F was sent.

For emails: only the ones that could prove your relationship. You don't have to print them all... coz it cost time to read all of them and visa officers might not like that.

Dated pictures are the best evidences IMO.
