AOS Interview on VISITOR VISA

Hey Folks!

We had our Interview on October 2 at 7:50am in the Morning....in L.A! what a sleepless night. Get up at 5am..

We were nervous as hell, coming from Germany on Visitor Visa (B2) made us believe its going to be hard. Furthermore we dont have much in chared accounts (only checkings/savings joint bank, cingular phone bill, Insurance) but we were ready. I luckly saved my return flight ticket which i held onto as a joker

We waited for 3minutes or so with some other early birds and then got in. We had an middle aged black woman which did noit seem to care much. She asked us how we knew each other and when we said Internet she coulnd not believe it. That is rather the fact that people date over the net, than us actually meeting there. So we showed her the joint accounts and talked a lot (my philosophy was give em to much information so they dont wanna hear it all!). The did not even want to see our wedding album or any pics at all. When we shows her the Bills she already fondeled with my Passport (I 94 removed, Visa cross out) and said "your not visiting no more", she did not seem very interested or maybe we were so believable. Maybe me beeing a tall white Guy from Germany convinced her more than the fiftysecond Asian/white couple etc. It seeme dlike it in the waiting room because we were the only white folks there.

The whole Interview was over in 12 Minutes, we were surprised. She said i should received my Greencard in the next 90(!!!) days and congratulated us. No Stamp but a printed Letter saying i am approved.

Yeepeee! I am a LPR now

We hoe to visit Germany for christmas if my greencard arrives earlier. 90 days is pretty uncommon isnt it? i read more like 2 weeks here all the time. As long as its here till middle of december its ok.

Fazit: AOS on a Visitor Visa is not more complicated, the question of me comming to marry on intention never even came up. Its all about how secure you are in your marriage, we are so they saw that. good luck folks!

You'll probably get the card quicker than 90 days. Maybe a couple of weeks. They say 90 days to cover their ### so you don't call them after 5 days bugging them about where it is

Congratulations! Is the printed letter the interviewer gave you is like an official letter or made only by her with her signature?

thank you were glad its over and we can sleep a little more relaxed. in general i have to say it was faster than expected but with a lot of confusion from the USCIS in some situations.

I also think that the people that helkp you here do a good job but sometimes lack a bit of faith. what i mean is i read so many times that you have to get a lawyer that its not recommended doing the AOS route instead of K1/K3 visa retunr to your country road. i know these advices are meant in good thought bur can disenrourage young couples that dont have money for a lawyer or are simply unsure. im glad we went this road and it work with no hassle to all couples out there and ponder if they wanna dare to to AOS from visitor, student ot whatever visas i can honestly say: " if your intentions were clean not to come to stay and you have a relationship that works, try it!"

i was only commenting on the fact that it made a difference that we were different, stood out of the mass. thats all. not racist or anything, just the facts are that marriages from mexico, asia etc are more often "assembled" to get into the us than one few ones from European countrys. Just look at a waiting room or the official numbers.

I'm offended. It is a racist statement. Trying to hide it by claiming it is "fact" does not change anything.

I am offended that you are claiming that my marriage is "assembled" based on the fact that one is "white" and the other is "Asian".

I am offended that you are claiming that by "[looking] at the waiting room" you can determine that marriages between "Asian" and "White" are "assembled" but "European" couples are more likely legitimate.

I am deeply offended with your claim that you had superior "[convincing]" ability because you are "a tall white guy from Germany". Isn't this one of the root causes of the second world war?

first of of all I have to say that NOT all Germans are as cocky as this one! I find it very offensive and cocky the way this dude writes and acts. He's still fresh out of Germany and totally WRONG with his comments!

I'm totally shocked that people like that get accepted into the United States. If you think that white is a superior race then ... hmmmm sorry dude, you should have lived 65 years ago!

The quote from the black lady at immigrations ...tsssss was that really necessary? It doesn't matter if someone is black, white, or asian. I think it may have been unfortunate that you were actually permitted to reside in the United States as a permanent resident.

What you are purporting as fact in your comments is actually a huge prejudice. Own up to it and understand where it's coming from! It's obviously there.

Your relationship is not anymore legitimate because of your whiteness. Perhaps you benefitted in the immigration process, though, by coming from a Western nation.

Either way, your comment about interracial couples is just disgusting. My husband is a white German and I am a black American. We were easily approved. Thankfully. But our status as an interracial couple played no role, positive or negative, in our approval.

Lastly, you're not in Germany anymore, which, as a nation, has a lower rate of racial diversity. You're living in the United States! You're likely living in southern California, if your interview location is any evidence, and southern California is one of the most diverse regions in all of the United States. That also may have influenced what couples you saw at your interview.

Southern California, and particularly Los Angeles County (where you live) has a large immigrant community with people from all over the world. A great number of those immigrants are Hispanics, and a lesser number are Asians, Iranians, Armenians, East Indians, and some East Europeans. Go ask your wife.

I should point out to you that

1. NOT ALL HISPANICS ARE MEXICANS

2. NOT ALL ASIANS ARE CHINESE

I'm simply amazed by your narrow-minded bigotry resulting in sweeping generalizations like .....

Show us a copy of the "official numbers" of your so-called "facts."

Since YOU live in multiracial and multicultural Los Angeles County, you should have known that the "waiting room" will be filled with people who are not necessarily "tall white Guy from Germany" and "It seeme dlike it in the waiting room because we were the only white folks there."

If you had your interview, say in Kansas or North Dakota, then perhaps you will see more White couples and a few interracial ones in the "waiting room."

UNSOLICITED ADVICE

1. Since you are living in Los Angeles County, you ought to take a CULTURAL SENSITIVITY CLASS.

2. If you don't want to, then keep your RACIAL BIAS to yourself.

3. Don't drive to East Los Angeles and make racial comments to the folks living there.

It is NOT naive to be amazed when Andreas posted these RACIAL COMMENTS in a public forum like VJ.

VJ is a multiracial and multicultural world-wide forum with many inter-country and interracial couples who are happily married and settled in the US. VJ is NOT the forum to spout RACIAL COMMENTS.

If Andreas is a RACIST, then he should keep his RACIAL BIAS to himself, and NOT come to VJ to proselytize to VJ members and readers his RACIST VIEWS.
