Depends. Each state has a statute stating when "force" can be used and when "deadly force" can be used. If you use force or deadly force within those allowed circumstances it is perfectly legal to assault or kill someone.

There is one huge difference in this case vs the Trayvon Martin homicide. This homeowner did not go looking for trouble and did not initiate the confrontation! He was in his own home and the person he shot was there unlawfully. It is a tragedy, to be sure, but NOT the fault of the homeowner. His families' safety justified his actions and the 'victim' in this case did not deserve the 'benefit of the doubt'!

You have no evidence of any of that in the Zimmerman case. Your statements are completely without merit at this point and 100% predujiced. You are basing this on "leaks", speculation, agenda driven statements. The people supporting Martin have offered bounties for the kidnapping of a US citizen, published addresses of people not involved, driving them out of their homes.

Enough of this nonsense, James! We have a system, a system you support (I thought), a system you criticize Zimmerman for "not following" and now you are doing the same thing.

There will be a Grand Jury hearing on April 10, evidence will be presented and if there is not even enough evidence to prosecute, James, what will you say then? I mean, seriously, you think the police released him from custody because they wanted the good publicity? They have no evidence to charge him with a crime at this point, they were ordered to release him because the person that KNOWS about this case and would have to prosecute it HAS NO EVIDENCE.

I am perfectly happy with the concept of "Innocent until proven guilty" and perfectly comfortable with the state haveing the ability to determine when deadly force is justified.

Before the concealed weapons laws did you stay indoors 24/7 to stay safe? Ive been on this planet 45 years and been in a few tussels in my life and still survived without a gun holstered to my side. Before the concealed weapons laws did you stay indoors 24/7 to stay safe? Ive been on this planet 45 years and been in a few tussels in my life and still survived without a gun holstered to my side. My opinion not very popular and it conterdicts one of our amendments but if your not a police man or in the military theres no need to have one.

Vermont has always allowed the carrying of concealed weapons without a permit. Since 1791. Our crime rate has always been the lowest. No need to stay inside here, take your gun and go outside.

The dispatcher says "we don't need you to do that" So what? To me that is a suggestion that what he is doing is not necessary. It is not an order to do anything else or to stop doing anything. A 911 dispatcher has no authority to order anyone to do anything.

There will be a grand jury to decide evidence which is admitted in court. Such things are not decided by information leaked to the press and distributed by people with political agendas.

Interesting anecdote......but that's all it is. There are many thousands of people who have a different story to tell. In light of your personal experience, how should the slaughter at the Kileen Luby's be viewed? Or at Virginia Tech? How about the Wisconsin State Fair assault in which a young girl was molested in front of her father by a mob, and when he intervened he was given a "hospital job?" How about the Petit murders? Not everyone is as lucky as you, I guess......or maybe you think it's just plain foolish to go to a restaraunt, or university, or a state fair, or even to be in your own home. Maybe these victims "instigated" these attacks. I am always shocked when someone (a progressive, invariably) can sit back in the comfort of their home, an tap out judgements on the keyboard about who does or doesn't "need" a gun. Why does this generation of soft liberals, whose greatest life challenge has been to rant about Rush Limbaugh, think they are qualified to second guess the wisdom of our founding generation- men who risked their lives and family in a bloody revolution, and who built in its wake an "Empire of Liberty" (To quote Jefferson). If Zimmerman is no-billed for this it will be because of the actions of Maritn which required, or allowed, Zimmerman to use deadly force. Period. Anything before that makes no difference.

You trust the sysytem to protect you and your family, preferring to call a government agent with a gun if you need one (that IS what you do when you call 911) Yet now you seem perfectly content to bypass the same system when it comes to the prosecution (or lack of prosecution) of Zimmerman because of rumors.

If I am assaulted I have my own gun, I do not need to call someone else to bring theirs. I fully trust our system to handle thingsa after the fact, they are pretty good at it. But in a "crime in progress" situation they are always the last to show up.

I really do not understand the position of someone that says they do not need a gun to protect their family and then have a cell phone to call someone with a gun.
