Its been over a year since I put in my application for the green card.

That that followed me knew that my case really wasnt very simple for a variety of reasons. I entered the US in 1998, so my overstay was rather substantial. I married a younger man which also could have worked against me. My AOS interview on October 11th 2011(yes FIVE months ago) was a comedy of errors, from the rather stern Immigration Officer to my husband who thinking because he worked for Homeland Security, I would get an easier ride. NOT.

We were woefully unprepared for the kind of questioning that we got,(What streets are around your house, Whats his mothers address?, When did he last see his father!!?) with the cherry on top.....What did your wife do in Illinois question with the horrible answer of...she was MARRIED to her EX HUSBAND. #######!!! I love him but that was a ####### answer. I had to explain the difference between a religious marriage and a civil one. As a result we got a RFE that stated that I had to prove that I was never married in any place that Id lived in since I was 16.

I got all that and sent off the RFE with additional information to prop up the file...and the waiting game commenced.

Today after initially filing in March 2011...I got the email that my card was in PRODUCTION.

What a relief and a HUGE burden off my mind. Ive been through a lot in this country and many times I just wanted to leave but I knew I owed it to the son that I buried here that I had to get this done....and finally it has!

So dont give up hope. My case was more complex than it needed to be but I knew that when I filed. Now I get to see WHICH CARD I get. Two years? (based on my civil marriage) or TEN based on my Islamically legal marriage.

Im so freaking glad this THIS part is over!

03/19/2011 (Day 10) Hard Copy of NOA 1
03/28/2011 (Day 19) Biometrics letter 4/8/2011
04/08/2011 (Day 30) Successful Biometrics for I-765/I-485
05/13/2011 (Day 65) EAD received in the mail
05/14/2011 (Day 66) Email confirming EAD approved (Case updated online TOUCH)
05/20/2011 (Day 72) SSN In the Mail.

09/08/2011 (Day 200 ) Email notification of Interview.
10/11/2011 Interview at 26 Federal Plaza, NY!
Interviewed and Am expecting RFEs!
10/13/2011 (Day ***) Received RFE-- Requesting that I provide documentation to prove I was never married in Uk or Illin
02/11/2012 (Day ***) Service request..Told its being reviewed by supervisor

24th March 2012!!!!!!!!!!! Email notifiying me of CARD IN PRODUCTION
03/26/2012 (Day 376) Emails confirming that my I-130 and I-485 have been approved.

4/2/2012 Green Card In Hand!

Unbelievable that my journey took this long but Im thankful

Next Stop Premed...Yup!

3/24/2014 Application for conditions to be removed

9/22/2014 APPROVED without interview.

Day 0 - 03/31/2012 - Package (concurrent I-{130/AOS/AP/EAD} ) sent to Chicago with USPS
Day 1 - 04/02/2012 - Delivered!!!
Day 5 - 04/06/2012 - "Acceptance confirmation received for entire forms & routed to NBC" was sent via email.
Day 10 - 04/11/2012 - NOA for I-{130/AOS/AP/EAD} Received.
Day 15 - 04/16/2012 - NOA for Biometrics appointment Received. {Scheduled for 05/08/12}
Day 37 - 05/08/2012 - Biometrics app completed.
Day 44 - 05/15/2012 - Interview date schedule @ Dallas/Irving TX..
Day 54 - 05/25/2012 - EAD/AP production Notification.
Day 75 - 06/15/2012 - Interview'd with NO approval. 1 hr Post-interview: Received I-485/Card production email.
Day 78 - 06/18/2012 - 2nd emails {I-485/Decision/Register PR and I-130/Post-Decision} Received.
Day 81 - 06/21/2012 - Received {email of Card mailed out} and 2 Hardcopies {I-485 & I-131 approval}
Day 83 - 06/23/2012 - GC touched down. 10x Mailman.

08/26/2011 - Husband became USC through naturalization

10/12/2011 - We got married!

12/03/2011 - Sent AOS package(I-130, I-485, I-765) to Chicago Lockbox

12/05/2011 - Delivery confirmation via USPS

12/16/2011 - Received emails for I-130, I-485

12/22/2011 - Received NOA in mail for I-130, I-485 dated 12/16/2011

12/23/2011 - Received rejected I-765 due to missing signature

12/24/2011 - Received biometrics appointment on 01/09/2012 dated 12/20/2011

12/27/2011 - Reapplied I-765

12/29/2011 - I-765 has been delivered by USPS confirmation

01/04/2012 - Walk-in biometrics done

01/11/2012 - Received NOA in mail for I-765 dated 12/30/2011

02/01/2012 - Received text/email for I-765, Card/Document Production

02/06/2012 - Received EAD card in mail. YAY!

02/07/2012 - Received text/email for interview date, 03/15/2012

02/08/2012 - Received interview letter in mail

03/15/2012 - Interview at San Antonio, approved on spot and got a stamp!

Oh boy. That was a ton of laughs right? Its still really sinking in and I wont believe it until I get my card. I really was thinking about packing up and getting everyone ready for a denial. Maybe the service request bumped it up a bit, I will never know but its like a world has been lifted from my head.And yea 5 months and a half months almost...it was a killer. Now I get to see what kind of GC Im getting!

Jan 11th, 2012 (Day 0) - Mailed I-130/I-485/I-765/I-131 to Chicago Lockbox
Jan 12th, 2012 (Day 1) - Application received by USCIS J.C.

Jan 31st, 2012 (Day 20) - Called USCIS Customer Service to inform them of their clerical error. Spoke to tier 2 rep and was told to walk in on the scheduled date for biometrics at the nearest office (New Orleans, LA))
Feb 8th, 2012 (Day 28) - Biometrics completed at ASC in New Orleans
Feb 27th, 2012 (Day 47) - Interview for I-485 on March 30th, received via text/email from USCIS
Mar 16th, 2012 (Day 65) - EAD/AP card arrived in mail!
Mar 30th, 2012 (Day 79) - AoS Interview at Atlanta, GA; APPROVED!
Apr 9th, 2012 (Day 89) - Green Card in hand! THANK YOU VJers! (Expiration March 30, 2014)

Congrats! My husband's interview will have been 5 months on the 7th of April. We are (in)patiently waiting and wondering why the hold up. Before we left the Co said enjoy your life in the US. So we thought we had it in the bag. Fast forward til today, still no descion.

07/21/11 filed AOS off tourist visa

07/28/11 USCIS cashed check

07/30/11 Recieved NOA1 and Biometrics letter

08/24/2011 Biometrics

08/25/2011 RFE sent to us for some info we've already sent in

08/30/2011 sent in the rest of info USCIS asked for

09/13/2011 went to congressman's office to sign papers for expedite of work permit, due to financial hardship

09/15/2011 Work permit expedite approved!! He can finally find a job!

09/24/2011 work permit arrives

09/26/2011 Apply for social security number!

09/30/2011 Letter is sent for interview

11/07/2011 INTERVIEW!!!

Its 2012 and still no approval! Still waiting

01/27/2012 Letter sent stating that file was sent on for more review :(
