Hello folks,

I didn't imagine we will have to do this but I'm just tired of waiting in vain. We decided to involve a congressman, maybe it will yield something or at least we would feel like we are helping our case.

The fact is we don't know the way to involve your congressman. If some of you have done it please some info would be appreciated.

Do you do it by email, post mail, telephone?

Thanks

Im trying to involve my senator because like you Im hating this waiting with no answer rule and im also an august filer... but anyway I wrote a letter with a filled out privacy form last wk and tomorow Im going to call their office so ill see if that would be of any help towards my case as well... Just search your congressman and find the immigration privacy form and get the address and just send the form with the letter to them.. then follow up with a call that should help.. goodluck

First, find the name and address of your congressman. They usually have several offices and one may be nearby. I have used mine several times. I never made an appointment, just walked right in. It's not like going to an immigration office. Each time the place was empty, except of course, for the people that worked there. Make sure you CLEARLY and SIMPLY point out your case and have everything in writing. You need to "make your case". If you are in normal processing times, please do not disturb them. If you are way outside, then document the calls you made, who you spoke to, and things like that. The more evidence the better.

How long should my husband wait until we should need our congressman's help? :bonk:

A congressman will get an answer to their questions. However, the answer may well be that you are still within normal processing time. Basically it is an email back to the Congressmans' assistant who works immigration issues. My Senators assistant just forwarded the email from USCIS to me, where they basically told both of us to shut up and color.

Getting a congressman involved seems like to big deal to us, but to USCIS it is an everyday occurance and hardly worthy of notice.

I believe all of you who are waiting for your NOA2s, need to call USCIS and ask for a service request. If USCIS informs you that you are still considered inside the "normal processing" window of time, there is not much your congressman can do for you since they will tell him the same thing.

They fluctuate their "normal processing window" Sometimes it's five months. If they get backed up they bump it up to 6 or 7 months.

At least, this has been my experience from numerous conversations with USCIS while waiting for my own NOA2.

Hope this helps.
