B1/B2 holder, getting married - help!

Hi Guys,

I've been here in the US on B1/B2 and am about to get married in a week. This was not planned while I entered and we had to get married because of circumstances. I have to leave the country on April 5th (end of 6 month period).

What paperwork does my wife and I need to file right after marriage, so that I can continue to stay? Also since the process will take time, is it advisable to file for an extension of stay, if yes, what paperwork needs to be filled?

Moved from adjustment of status from family visas to adjustment of status from student work tourist as a B1/B2 is not a family visa but a work/tourist visa.

Do not file for extension of stay for the B2. If your spouse is a USC, you can adjust status while you remain in the USA - read this guide. If you decide to return home first, read this one.

If your spouse is a LPR, you won't be able to adjust status from in the USA.
