Hi, im kind of lost with the i-131 and really have no idea how to fill it up, and when i call the uscis custommer service, looks as they are even more lost than i am.

I entered US as k1 and my 3 kids are k2.

My kids may need to go out the country in the summer vacation, coz they have to see their dad who lives in Argentina. I dont think the adjustment would b ready at that times, so im trying to plan ahead of time and fill the i-131 to have the permition for them to travel already.

Here is the problem, do i make the form asking for advance parole, or i do asking for reentry permit??

The sample forms here shous it as i have to make advance parole for them, but when i read the instructions for the form it looks as i need the reentry permit.

Also i dont have a specific day they will travel, and it also may b their father dont even request them this year. Is just in case it happens.

I know an i-131 can b filled even when u dont have an intend day to travel, but still may main problem is, what should i request there.

Any advice?

Thx so much!!

You/they must have AP to travel on before getting the green card. Re-entry permits are for when you have the green card already but will be outside the USA for 1 year.

If you just go ahead and file the I-485, you can also file the I-765(work permit) and I-131(travel permit) at the same time and there will be no extra fee for them.

I dont know if this is true or not, but I was told by a manager at USCIS that if you file the 765 and 131 concurrently, they are actually processed faster than the 131 alone.

It could be true. The EAD and AP now come in a combo card that acts as both.
