My fiance got approved. I plan to take her home with me. The airline says my flight is full already. I will forfeit the money and take my honey home on a different flight. Do I need to contact the airline to cancel my original ticket or just not show up for that flight? Will this effect my passport when I got to the airport to board a new flight?

Congrats. Stupid Airline companies.

I don't think it should be problem to "just miss" your flight, but I would recommend letting them know that you intend to miss it.

Also, if you airline allows it, try to change your flight to a date when you can buy a ticket for you finace. It's usually cheaper to just change flights and pay the fare difference.

Yes, try to change the ticket for a "fee change" and get your fiance on the new flight. Usually they charge around $150 for a flight change. If the flight is oversold you'll be doing them a favor.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Great advice. It's cheaper to pay the fee to change the flight than to buy a new ticket.

A couple of years ago, I had to change my flights from HCMC to LAX on EVA. Paid a change flight fee at their office in HCMC, and I was able to change my flight very easily.

Thanks for all the good advise. Can't just change with my airline though. They say all there flights are full for the whole month of March and I have to leave before that.

Congratulations on your fiancee's visa approval :D

How about calling the airlines and tell them your situation and ask to cancel your flight. Then ask them if they can partially reimburse some of your money. Flights to Vietnam I'm assuming are just about the same price as going to Laos. I just returned from Laos and my ticket was $1900. Ask them to reimburse you as it can't hurt to ask

Again congratulations on the approval! I wish you two a safe flight.
