I was in the states 7 years ago, with a work and travel visa j-1.I was still a student, and went there for only 5 and half months.

Thats when i met my husband.I had a social security number, which i thought i lost after i got back, during the years.

Now,when he's doing his taxes,he asked me if i had one...and i said i did, telling him i lost it.Back then,i never knew that one day we'll get married. And today that he asked me about it,i remembered i had an envelope, with all the documents and stuff i got during my stay there....and when i opened it,i found it! My social security was there!...sigh....The problem is,when we filed the petition , we didnt say i had one, cause i thought it might be expired, knowing that i had a temporary visa, and thinking that i lost it!!!!

Now i am stressed out, would that be a problem???.......I didnt know i still had it!

Someone ,please help!

I don't know if its a problem but an SSN does not " expire " when you are given one its your number for your life.

It should be i mean they probably found your SSN anyways when they looked at your background - then they probably just added it to your file folder.

Your SSN isn't a material fact of the Visa Process. Disclose the error at your interview.

I hope you're right!!!

I hope you're right!!!

A material fact is something that would affect the decision like your relationship to the petitioner or criminal history.

At the interview tell the CO that you didn't realize SSN were issued forever but now understand this and provide the SSN.

Everything IS ok. This is a non-issue. Just enter the SSN on future paperwork. You had an A number too but lots of folks don't know theirs or even know they had one.

I meant, I already told you as directly and confidently as possible that your "issue" is a non-issue and that calling USCIS is a good way to get a BS answer from somebody who knows NOTHING. You DO NOT HAVE a PROBLEM.
