Dear All,

As we all know here is the only place that everyone understands you and your STRESSFUL situation as we are in the same boat! So, as my timeline shows, we replied what they asked in the RFE on Feb 25, but we never heard from them back, not even in the USCIS website!

What do you think? When are they going to inform us that they received AND more importantly how long does it take to be approved!

Our RFE was asking for more evidence that we met in person, hence we sent more pictures and our passport stamps and boarding passes.

Can't wait to read your positive comments on my post. B-)

By "positive" you mean "informative and correct" Right?

You expected to hear back in 3 days? I think most stress in the world is caused by unrealisitc expectations.

They will not send a notice they received anything, this is not the filing of a paid petition or application, you get no "receipt"

The online update system is notoriously unreliable. Would you listen to the weather if it was wrong 65% of time? Our case shows "initial review" and Alla is a citizen now. Stop looking at that. It may never be updated.

Expect to hear something in 2-4 weeks.

The visa is the easy part. I understand this because I have been through the entire process. Have you prepared for the interview? Have you prepared for her moving here? Have you collected her educational information, transcripts, had them translated? Medical records, dental records? Had them translated? What about shipping some of her clothes, books, kitchen utensils? You are moving a LIFE across the world and there is plenty to do besides look at unreliable government update systems.

VERMONT! I Reject Your Reality...and Substitute My Own!

Thank you so much for your great reply! I really do appreciate it. Actually what I meant by "Positive" was positive, since I really feel good reading VJers comments which most of them are POSITIVE and while I'm reading them I feel like "thank God, this is not that difficult. But I should thank you again for your comment which is both Positive & informative.

Well, I don't expect the approval, but I was thinking that they may change my status to "Review the RFE" or something similar as I have read in different posts, apparently I was wrong. But it's really good to hear that this website is not reliable, I don't have to check it everyday from now on!

I really hope to hear from them (hopefully my NOA2) in couple of weeks and I wish you and Alla a very lovely life!

Thank you again!

Hi,

You aren't kidding this is stressful and not too many understand what you're going through. Thank goodness for VJ and its members.

I received an RFE and sent the response on 02.22.2012 and received an email/text that my case was in RFE response review on 02.24.2012 and was updated on the USCIS website on same day. So it's not unreasonable to expect to hear something by now. My petition has been touched 3 or 4 times and each time showed up on website. Some posters say it doesn't matter because some have never been notified or updated on the site but still get NOA2.

So I guess it depends on who is working your case as to whether you get a response or not. I'm just hoping that I have fulfilled their requests and will hear something soon.

But like the poster before me said, start preparing for your fiance's move here. There is lots to do to keep you otherwise occupied...lol

Good luck with your journey!

Thank you so much! Wow, you guys are adorable! I believe in your words regarding the website. As we got both text and update notice when our status changed to RFE, now worried that it didn't change after we replied though! But time wise, they should have receive it! So, what do you think now? They may update the website later? By the way when was your NOA1?

Thank you for your post & which you luck!

That is only 4 days ago, be patient. Did you send the reply back with signature receipt so that you know they actually have received it?

They may or may not update the status from hereon, but it is a little early to expect an update. Just give them a bit of time to receive and work on your file. And don't let anyone make you feel guilty for stressing - in most cases its the natural reaction. Try and keep busy with planning for the next steps as others have suggested - give it a few weeks. Best wishes (F)

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number

Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere, and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .

I mailed my RFE back on 02/17, I checked on the USCIS website and they mentioned it was received on 02/27. I am now patiently waiting and hoping that I will receive NOA2 soon. At the end of the day I've read through visa journey top to bottom and it varies for everyone, but most people have received their NOA2 within 2-3 weeks after sending reply.

I got an RFE as well on Jan. 20th and seriously thought it was the end of the world. I packed my bags and was ready to quit school and my job because I could not handle the stress and some random third party determining my life.

However - I snapped back to reality, took a breath, and did as they said.

I would give them another week and then call USCIS to ask. It is true you cannot go crazy over everything and worry that much - but we all get the natural feeling! So, I would try to take my mind off of it by preparing other things and also staying in touch with your loved one with positive conversations and interactions instead of just talking about this crazy paperwork.

In the end, it all works out.

I feel your pain... (L)

I got the text/email for RFE on Jan. 20th. I did not recieve nothing in the mail at ALL. I waited and waited, and called and put in a request for service for them to resend one, and still nothing.

Finally on Feb. 14th my lawyer emailed me a scanned copy of the NOA Request for Evidence.

It stated I must submit "intent to marry" letters original from my fiance and from me signed and dated.

Also, last personal meeting evidence.

Therefore I submitted our two original intent to marry letters (signed, dated, notorize-along with a translation, certificate of translation, signed, dated and notorized).

So, luckily my fiance and I were fast and had relatives coming back from Montenegro on Feb 19th. I sent all additional evidence on 2/24, they got it 2/27, and approved it last night 2/29.

*Also along with my intent to marry letters, and passport stamps, itinerary, and pictures... I sent over more phone bills and my wedding dress reciept and emails from banquet halls i was interested in.

I felt this would improve my case even though it specifically stated that bills and letters would not justify as evidence for proof of last meeting in person.

Hope this helps (L)
