Hi Guys,

I'm in the USA with a k3 visa released by the Naples amrican consulate in july 2011 and just moved here 2 months ago.

During the interview in Naples and on the papers I gave to the conselor a SSN social security number has been requested.

The number was supposed to be here after 4 weeks from my arrival to the USA but until today nothing happened so I m going to a SSN office tomorrow to ask more informations about it and how to get it.

I want to open my business here in the US, I m an artisan and my intention is to do here what I did in italy for many years.

Do you know if after the SSN arrives it will be possible for me to open my own business in America?

Thank you so much for any information you will post here guys!

Luciano

You have to file AOS and have an EAD or green card to legally work in the USA.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

Please look at the visa and confirm whether the visa category is actually K3, IR1 or CR1. In order to qualify for a social security card within weeks of entry, it must be an IR1 or CR1 visa, not K3. If it's a K3, you'll need to adjust status before being able to work or have a social security number.

You have to file AOS and have an EAD or green card to legally work in the USA.

K3 visas are so rare these days, I would not assume the OP actually has the visa his profile says he was seeking or even the visa his post says he has.

a K-3 is not eligible for a SSN.

Are you certain you have a K-3 stamp in yer passport, or [instead] a CR-1 or IR-1 visa stamp?

Please confirm what you have, soonish, here. TIA !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
