click on 'wiki' above,

then in the search box - enter 'LingChe'

then read it all.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Hey there,

Congratulations on getting your I-130 approval =) I just went through this process so it's fresh in my mind. Hope this helps. This is what you should do:

1. Go to www.immigrantvisas.state.gov and look at the instructions for filling out Form I-864 (Affidavit of Support) and Form DS-230 (Application for Immigrant Visa). Both applications are fairly complicated and require lots of documentation. DO NOT WAIT. Start gathering this documentation. NOW. I made the stupid mistake of not immediately gathering all documentations, and now unfortunately my application is delayed by about 2 weeks because I have to wait for the documents to arrive. Do not make the mistake I made.

2. Start calling the NVC automated system (just google NVC automated system and it will give you the number) daily and look for your Case# Initially, it will say they have no record of your case, but pretty soon (sometimes it takes as little as a week, sometimes it takes a month. Took two weeks for me), they will have your information and tell you your case number. Once your case number has been assigned, you're in business. Soon, NVC will e-mail you the CHOICE OF AGENT Form DS-3032.

3. E-mail this form back to NVC IMMEDIATELY. Just search "e-mailing ds-3032 to NVC" and you will find a very helpful thread about it right here on Visa Journey. Follow the instructions outlined. Make sure the e-mail is sent from the BENEFICIARY'S e-mail.

4. If all goes well, NVC will accept your e-mail and register whoever you assigned as the CHOICE OF AGENT for your beneficiary. Very soon after this, they will generate the AOS Fee Bill for you and e-mail you instructions about how to pay it. Pay this online, immediately. The e-mail will have instructions on how to pay it online.

5. Very soon after the above, you will receive an e-mail from the NVC that you have been selected as the CHOICE OF AGENT for your Beneficiary (if the beneficiary named you as the agent of-course), and to pay the IV Fee Bill. Once you receive this e-mail, pay the IV Fee Bill, immediately.

6. Now, DO NOT WAIT. Gather ALL the documents needed for Forms I-864 and DS-230 as soon as possible. Create a nice and neat packet for both applications and file it away in a safe place after making sure you have everything.

7. Now, you wait. It will take about 2-3 business days for NVC to take money from your account. Keep checking online for the status of your fees. If everything goes well, it will soon change from IN PROCESS to PAID. Again, the e-mail that they send you will have information about how to check the status online.

8. Once your Fee status becomes PAID for both I-864 and DS-230, overnight both applications to the NVC via USPS immediately.

There. Now you are done.

Hope this helped you a lot =) I just went through this. Just waiting on one last piece of documentation from the beneficiary and I will mail the DS-230. Like I said, I was delayed by about 2 weeks because I did not start gathering documentation immediately after my I-130 was approved. Don't make the mistake I made. Start early and good luck!
