Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

A Turkish plane carrying 113 people was hijacked Tuesday by two Turks protesting Pope Benedict XVI's upcoming visit to Turkey, and landed safely in Italy, according to a Turkish national airline official.

The official said the two indicated they were ready to surrender to authorities.

The plane departed Tirana, Albania and was headed to Istanbul, Turkey, when the hijackers announced their intentions over Greek airspace, the spokesman said on Turkish television.

The chairman of Turkish Airlines confirmed the hijacking and said none of the passengers had been hurt.

Yikes. I'm glad no one was hurt.

I don't think this even sends a very great anti-Papal message either; the only message it sends to me is that the airport in Tirana has poor security

He wasn't protesting the pope, and this wasn't about the pope's visit. The guy was just a weenie who apparently did not want to have to serve the mandatory military service that all Turkish men have to serve.

He was trying to get asylum in Albania, ....they turned him down, put him back on a plane bound for Istanbul, and had he arrived, he would have been detained and faced charges for being an army deserter.

So, he hijacked the plane in order to avoid that. (Great plan. And he thought the penalties for being a deserter would be harsh.......just wait till he finds out the punishment for being a hijacker too  )

They also said he had written to the pope in August, and was hoping the pope would help him in his attempts to avoid military service.

This was NOT about protesting the pope's visit. ....nor about his upcoming visit to Turkey.

If you reread that story/link from CNN...you will see that earlier reports were a mistake and that all it was about was some wiener trying to avoid his military service.
