I have question on the Oath Ceremony date. Below is what I see in the email notification and status website. Does it mean the the oath date will be with in 45 days of the approval or they will inform with in 45 days about the oath date that could be less than 45 days or more than 45 days of the approval? I am trying to make travel plans to attend the oath ceremony so I am trying to figure out what could be the date for Oath Ceremony. Any thoughts and input from your experience?

Naturalization Applicants: you will receive your certificate at your oath ceremony. You can expect to be scheduled for an oath ceremony within 45 days of receiving your recommended approval.

It means you can expect to be notified in the next 45 days of when your OATH date is...sure you might hear in 10 days and it's a week away or you might hear in 44 days and it's a month after that.

There is no way to predict it when they'll send it, I would not make any plans until you have the Oath ceremony letter in hand and know the date. There is no guarantee they'll do it in 45 days, others have waited longer.

Thank you. That is what I thought also.

Could camp out at your mailbox, or go on with your life.

Yes. I am moving on with my life. I am in the Med School in Caribbean. I flew to US last week to attend the interview and flew back on Sunday to continue attending the classes. Now as soon as I hear the date then I have to fly back to US again and attend the oath ceremony and fly back to school again. I am trying to make the travel plans to return for the oath ceremony as soon as I hear the date. I also have my final exams in the school in the next 9 weeks. Just trying to put all things in perspective and stay focused in the school.

While I understand that you probably want to get your Naturalization Cert as soon as possible, if the Oath date clashes with exams or you are just unable to get back to the US by that date you can always re-schedule it. So since you need to travel back to continue your schooling I'd go ahead and do as you planned with re-scheduling the oath ceremony as a back-up plan. If it were travel for a vacation, personally, I probably hold back a month or two and hope to receive notification of the date sooner rather than later and then book my vacation. Hope it all works out as best as possible for you.

DO NOT make travel plans until you have the date. My wife was given the oath ceremony letter at the interview and the oath ceremony is more than 60 days from the interview, so the 45 days definitely does not mean your oath will be within 45 days.

Thank you for your response. My Attorney said he will be at USCIS office tomorrow and he will try to find out more details about the dates. I told him if they are willing to do same day oath, I would be willing to fly down there for a day and complete the oath, get the passport and fly back. Let us see what he is going to find out tomorrow. I just want to be done with it. Also I think if we do not complete the oath in a certain time frame, I wonder if it would be effect the continuous residence of 6 months requirement.
