Hello All, I have a nagging question about what type of medical issue that could prevent someone from getting a visa. I filled my I 129F October 2011. We are waiting to receive my NOA2. I had my annual medical and my doctor said I may have Hepatitis A and Herpes type 2. Will this affect my getting the VISA to come to the USA?

Hep A is one of the things listed as needing to be vaccinated against. You will likely have to provide paperwork showing what severity you have it and that you are treating it etc to the immigration doctor that you go to.

You will also need to provide information on your herpes and herpes treatments if you are having any.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

I doubt you will have any issues. Even HIV does not make someone inadmissable these days. Here is a link to the CDCs immigration guidelines for Civil Surgeons

So if you are not having any treatment, would they deny you visa?

Hep A and herpes type 2 are highly contagious. They can find out from blood tests and the exam if you have these things.

The USA does the immigration exams because they don't want highly contagious infections/disease to come to the USA.

Hopefully you notify the USC of your medical findings, these are 2 serious contagious issues.

What is USC that should be notified?

Your future husband or wife that lives in the USA. USC = US citizen.

You should notify any family you live with as well because they will want to be tested for Hep A as they probably got it from living with you or you got it from them.

Please, I hope that you have had this discussion with your fiancé so they can receive preventative medical treatment for Hep A (assuming you contracted these elsewhere). There isn't a vaccine/cure for herpes other than not having unprotected sex. There a medicines that help control the flair ups. Sexual diseases/tests ARE NOT A HINDSIGHT MATTER.

You must to take the treatment not only cause of the whole paperwork but also for your health. If you see form DS 156 there's a part where they ask a bunch of important question and if you say yes at one them, means that you MIGHT BE not elIgibe for a visa to enter to the US (I guess every case it's different, and they would take care of that but part of the questions after the health status, one is that if you ever enter ilegally to the US, or be in a nazi meeting and awful things like that, so I guess that answering YES to any of those questions CAN'T BE GOOD). One of the questions is that if you suffer from any highly contagious disease. That means if you don't get a treatment and say NO (That you're not suffering of a highly contagious diseace) to these question you are committing a fraud by lying to the US goverment.

So my advice is take the treatment, get your health back in shape and THEN go to the embassy doctor. After you get well ask your doctor for medical report saying that yes you were suffering from these illness but you get the treatment and now you are well.

People get sick all the time, we're human beings not machines, I dont think they will deny your visa cause you have those diseaces, but I think you can get deny if you don't get a treatment or lie about your health.

I hope you get fine very soon!

Go back to your doctor and start treatment IMMEDIATELY. There is no way in hell the US embassy in Lagos will interview you with that condition. If your interview comes up before you are cleared by your doctor you will have to send them an email asking for an extension.

Goodluck

I want to thank everyone for your input. I was freaking out hear because I always perform my annual test since I am in the medical profession. Never had this result before. turns out the Lab made a huge error in their test and they had to perform the test again. it came out negative. Just to be sure I tested with a private independent lab and the result was the same NEGATIVE...Thanks everybody....I am so relieved.
