I'm filing I-485 with I-130. One of the rquired document is Birth Certificate. My Birth Certificate is not in English. Does anyone have a format I can follow to translate it into English?

Also, my birth certificate does not have my name on it, is it ok? Thanks.

You cant translate it yourself. You have to have a cert. translator do it. so it will cost some money. They have to put the seal that it is correct etc.. sign I think noterize.

We did our own and had no problem.

I don't know about the absence of a name though. The whole purpose of the BC is for identifying origin. I guess you have no choice but to use what you have.

check and make sure that the embassy doesn't require a certified translation. if they do then you will need to hire a translator. if not you can do the translation yourself. just to be safe though, you can then hire a translator to proofread it for you. the translator certifies that they have proofread it and that everything in your translation is accurate. good luck!!

I'd assume it'd be a problem. How would they know it's your birth certificate if your name doesn't show?

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

Mew is right. It will probably be a problem that your name doesn't appear on your birth certificate. I believe, and please someone correct me if I'm wrong, that on the instructions for the I-130 there is a list of other documents you can provide if you are unable to provide a birth certificate. Baptismal certificate comes to mind although I know there are a couple of other options.

In my country, we name the baby after he/she is born. That's why normally there isn't a name on the birth certificate. Can I use the Identity Page on my passport instead? It has my date of birth as well as the birth place.

Where are you from? There are other forums on this site especially for different regions of the world. You might want to post this question on one of those forums. I'm sure that someone else from your country has had the same problem and can probably offer some suggestions! Good luck!
