WOAH, just called DOS and got through in about 5 seconds! To a really really nice man who said everything had been received safely at the consulate, including medical, although no interview date yet. Now is obviously a good time to call, if you need to! Also, just goes to show they must put a lot of weight on the wedding date/expedite reasons you give them in your cover letter.

At least I know they have everything safely, and like I said, now is a good time to call if you need to do!

Hey everyone!

I've got a quick question about the police certificate. Basically we don't have anyone to sign the passport photo. We don't know anyone with a job from the list that could sign the photo, and the doctors/nurses he is currently with say they don't sign passport photos any more (just called today) because applicants would fill their forms out wrong and it would be rejected or sent back and it would make of a lot of paperwork for them so they decided to stop doing that. That's what the lady on the phone said any ways lol

Has anyone else been in this situation?

Also I kept trying to find threads talking about this in search but couldn't find anything, but I might missed something or hidden behind pages, if so sorry for being repetitive.

Thank you so much!!

Louise

Hi Louise

I'm a teacher in the UK and endorse photos / passport applications all the time so I asked a colleague to do mine - does he know anyone in a local school or college? Most GPs in the UK will do this though they tend to charge a fee. I should consider doing this myself :D

Update: I just received an email back from the embassy confirming they had changed my address on record, and stating "Please ensure you change the address on form DS156 on the day of your interview".

This confirms you do not need a special code to email the London embassy, and not to panic if they don't reply immediately :)

That's good about the email!

Interesting, I've not heard from them yet about my name change. Gah, looks like L will be putting a deposit down on an apartment soon as well, so it means we might have to change address either on the day we enter or before the interview.

What's the best way of coin this, as I can live anywhere I want on the two addresses for a few weeks...

I put this together for my fiances family and my own to explain what happens next. Might be useful to people on here. Used allot of stuff Nich Nick put together btw so thanks to them.

Once When NA02 is received?

1. The approved petition will go to NVC. This is the “hand-off” from USCIS to the US Department of State (DOS) who sends it to the US Embassy in London. Our USCIS online tracking number won’t work now because DOS is over the case now for issuance of a visa via the Embassy in London.

2. The NVC will send a letter informing you that they have sent the petition to London. NVC will assign a new case number starting with LND (for London). Once I have this number I can book my medical. The Embassy in London will pass the petition on to the Immigrant Visa Unit (IV).

3. The IV unit in London will open the file and log our case. They will send me a letter stating that they have received the file and that I may apply for a K1 visa by following the instructions on their website.

4. I will follow the instructions given which includes filling in visa application forms (DS-156, DS-157, DS-158, and DS-230) to the London Embassy. They start with DS because they are Department of State forms.

5. My medical exam will take place at the Knightsbridge clinic in London. I must take my immunizations history and my police record to the medical. Once the medical is complete the doctor will note this on a DS-3025 form that will be sent to the embassy. During the medical appointment I must request an official copy of the completed DS-3025 as this will be needed when filing for Adjustment of Status.

6. The embassy will send a letter to me with an interview date. I must then call the £1.23/min line and pay the visa fee ($350) by credit card after I have made the appointment.

7. For my interview in person at the Embassy I will need to I will need to put together and bring the an original copy of all information which has been filed so far plus the I-134, the documents requesting in the letter from the embassy, my passport, my birth certificate, my police record and proof of an ongoing relationship (Original copies of proof given in the I-129F petition, new color photos, phone bills, bank statements, Skype history, boarding passes, flight receipts, Facebook chat, Whatsapp chat etc). Most of the time this will not be required, but you need to bring it just in case.

8. When the embassy approves the K-1 at the interview, they will issue the visa typically within a week after the interview and return my passport along with a package which cannot be opened. Once I receive the K-1 Visa I will enter the US at any time within six months of the visa being issued.
