London 2012- K1s from NOA2 to interview thread

Also question 35:

This has been touched on in a previous post in this thread but some of my visits were back before you needed a visa or the visa waiver program. Should I simply leave the type of visa field as blank? Or put not required?

The UK has participated in the Visa Waiver Program for about 24 years now. They were the first country to join. Before that, visitor visas were required. Are you thinking about prior to ESTA, the electronic registration for traveling visa free , ie the visa requirement waived, ie visa waiver?

More countries than not, still need a visa to enter the US, so they would enter the appropriate visa on this item...the visa number for work, business, tourist, student or whatever. Brits don't actually use a visa because it is waived for them. But VWP is a good answer or even ESTA because it lets them know how you entered.

Yes I'm thinking ESTA. I didn't think the VWP was in place for so long, but this is great, thanks!

I'm assuming you made a typo with the question numbers, on my form they are Q23 and Q25

I just checked the DS-230 form again, mine are questions 32 and 33 for the employment and education information

Are we filling in the same forms here?

Hi Everyone!

I have a few of questions about the DS-156 form, that I'm filling out for my 4 year old son.

Q27. What would I put in 'What is the purpose of your trip?

Q28. 'Who is paying for your trip' Would 'Mother-my name' be ok?

Q31. I applied for a vistors visa last year and was refused so do I have to put the same info on my sons form?

Q32. Does he intend to work? I put N/A? (But will in the distant future! He's only 4!)

Q33. Does he intend to study? Would I list the pre-school he will be starting at in September?

Q34. List the persons travelling with you? Would that just be 'Mother-my name'?

Q37. List any of the following persons....- would that be no to all?

Q39. Was this application prepared by someone on your behalf. Would that be yes and then fill in my details underneath and sign?

Q41. He can't sign it, so do I sign again?

Also do I sign the DS-230 PART 1 for him too.

Thanks for any help

I was reading from the DS-230 example form on VJ. That's a lesson learned !!

My apologies for any unintentional confusion I may have caused you or anyone else reading that post.

Hey no harm done, no need to apologise. I just got worried you might end up like me and have to reprint the forms three or four times

Oh I still had to re-print them, I thought they looked untidy hand-written.

So much neater now they are typed.

Not that there wasn't lots of time to re-do them right?

WOW!!! Checked my case status on the UCSIS website today and this message came up.

I checked my case status online and it said "On June 29th, 2012 we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I192F PETITION FOR FIANCE"

Cannot wait for my fiance to wake up and see the news.

How long does it normally take for the letter to arrive?

Any clue why my fiance did not get a text message or email????

congratulations! i think the text/email system is generally unreliable, but it only took less than 5 days for our letter to come (hard to say exactly cos fiance was here in london, but when he got home 5 days later it was there already). congrats again!

Hi Everyone!

I have a few of questions about the DS-156 form, that I'm filling out for my 4 year old son.

Since nobody is replying, I'll take a stab at yours just to give an opinion. Keep in mind I have not paid much attention to actual K2 kids. It's mostly how I would interpret a form that fits many visas as it sorta applies to a 4 year old.

Q27. What would I put in 'What is the purpose of your trip?

Relocation to the US on K2 visa

Q28. 'Who is paying for your trip' Would 'Mother-my name' be ok?

Agree

Q31. I applied for a vistors visa last year and was refused so do I have to put the same info on my sons form?

Did you son have his name on a visitor visa application? I don't even know how those work. If he applied and he was denied, then I would say yes same as you.

Q32. Does he intend to work? I put N/A? (But will in the distant future! He's only 4!)

Q33. Does he intend to study? Would I list the pre-school he will be starting at in September?

I would say No to both of those.

Q34. List the persons travelling with you? Would that just be 'Mother-my name'?

Agree

Q37. List any of the following persons....- would that be no to all?

Agree

Q39. Was this application prepared by someone on your behalf. Would that be yes and then fill in my details underneath and sign?

Agree

Q41. He can't sign it, so do I sign again?

Yes, I've read this somewhere...parent signs for under age 14(?). He also does not have to attend the interview.

Also do I sign the DS-230 PART 1 for him too.

Sign everywhere for him because he's 4.
