I am very new to this site....just signed up today! My fiance and I filed the 129 form in August and have still yet to hear anything back besides the paper that gives us a case number. I check everyday and the status has not changed. We went through the California office and it says processing time is 5 months and we are past that.....just wondering if there is anything we can do at this point? We are concerned that our case status has not changed at all and it is unbelievably hard to plan a wedding without having any clue as to how long the process will take?!? Anyone have experience that could shed some light on this situation?

When you call them (IF you talk to a human) they will tell you they are working on June 16th.... welcome to the waiting club.

Nothing to do for now but what you have been doing.... waiting

Thank You at least I know that there is nothing else to do.......want to make sure there wasn't something I may have missed in the stack of paperwork! I tried calling and getting through to a human is extremely hard!

Its about 7 months, see the general processing times here.

Good toi know....when I looked it said the California office was at 5 months processing time so I was a bit concerned.

If there is something missing from the package then they will send you an RFE so you can send them what they are missing.

The 5 months is a goal but doesn't mean they have to adjucate your petition within or before that time. It goes up and down, looking at the time lines on VJ from the past up until now it shows a pattern of the service centers taking longer during parts of the year.

You're welcome to call USCIS to inquire about your case but as Hank_amy says, odds are they'll give you same reply (working on xx dates). After 6 months(5 months + 30 days from NOA1 date) you can try to put in a service request, or involve your congressman by allowing them to look into your case if you're tired of sitting around waiting. But it does help(imo) to occupy yourself and not check case status every day, or several times a day and pretend it's just a day like any other. I know that's hard though, but being disappointed when there's no news is even harder.

Planning wedding.. Well, after the K1 visa has been issued it has a validity of 6 months meaning you have up to 6 months to enter the US which makes it flexible after it's been issued but not before, and it gives you a little time to get things sorted out. After you enter the US you have max 90 days to get married so you're looking at a little less than 9 months of preparation, inviting guests etc.

:)

Ohh, and welcome to VJ! If you're having trouble getting through to a human when calling, just don't press anything and they'll assume you have an old phone with no buttons to press, you'll get transferred to a human. It has worked for some.
