We just got our NOA2, how do we know when our papers get sent to NVC and then on to the Consulate? Do they notify us? Does it show in the USCIS website where you can check your petition? Or do we have to call some place?

Any imput would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Michaela

Timeline

The website status will not change, and it will not show NVC activity.

Here is what you can do:

A couple of weeks after your NOA2 date, call the NVC at 603 334-0700. The NVC will tell you whether or not they have received your case. If they have receieved it, they will be able to tell you the receipt date and your new case number over the phone.

Once the NVC completes it's processing, you will receive an official notice in the mail from the NVC. This notice confirms that your case is leaving the US bound for Morocco.

Our case took about 2 weeks to get from the USCIS to the NVC. It then took about 1 week for NVC to finish processing. Times can vary, but it usually doesn't take long to go through NVC.

Read this website for more info about the NVC:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/ty...types_1309.html

Just to be more clear.... You will not receive a written notice when the NVC receives your case. You will only receive a written notice when it leaves the NVC. So, you will have to call the NVC to find out if they received your case.

also on the NVC phone number, you dont even need to talk to a person. Just follow the prompts, enter your receipt number, and the automated voice will tell you whether or not they have record of your case, and it takes all of about 30 seconds.

You acttually HAVE to talk to a real person. The k1 petitions are there for such a short time that they don't enter them into that sistem.... so if you call and never talk to an operator, you'll be very frustrated as you'll think your petition never got there.

Michaela_Hassan, check your USCIS account and see if it has been touched after your NOA2 approval date. This is usually when it has left the hands of USCIS and been sent to NVC. However, don't freak out if you call NVC and they tell you they haven't received it yet because it takes a while for them to get it into their system (2-8 weeks for some people, just a couple of days for others). Good luck and congratulations on your approval!!

Because CSC is slower these days, the touch after your NOA most likely means it was put in the NVC pile but not sent out yet. It has been averaging about 3+ weeks to leave CSC and arrive at the NVC. I had much more success emailing: NVCInquiry@state.gov and putting my case number in the subject line. The oeprators never showed my case in their system but I received an email response 24 hours after I sent it that the case had already left for the consulate and I confirmed the next day with my consulate.

Good luck.

The automated system doesn't work for K-1s.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.
