Received my letter yesterday for RFE, lists all the things they want sent in, proof of joint financial information (bills, lease, bank accounts etc.) only problem is that i already sent all that information with the original application. I have a few more things that i can send, just more bank statements with a good range of time from early in our marriage to even after the divorce went through. I don't know what else to send other than all our financial information I have already sent. they asked for pictures and affidavits and any other information that i might think is relevant. The marriage was a very controlling and so I was not really allowed to have any friends and was not allowed to talk to my family much, so as far as affidavits from people that knew both of us for 2 years during the marriage there really isn't anyone, he had a couple friends, i must say his ex wife was his best friend, but they will not help me at all with an affidavit, does it count if my parents write one?

what else can i send, they also want an affidavit from me about the termination of the marriage

seems like you need more substantial evidence and good "primary evidence" review the guides, read some of the posts. Was the marriage controlling for religious reasons? That seems to bother me, and maybe USCIS picked up on that.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

wasn't anything religious, started off "ok" and then just got worse over time, were only married 1 yr before i left, i was isolated a bit, i could go to work but couldn't talk to anyone or go anywhere without him. also he started drinking heavily and got a bit abusive, i got out before it got bad but never reported any incidents. do you know if there is a way to get a copy of a joint tax transcripts?

I think you should be very detailed in your affidavit regarding the termination of the marriage.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

thanks, i tried that it keeps saying address is wrong, i will have to call but that is very helpful

do you know if affidavits from family back in canada will have any merit when it comes to this? I have a couple friends but they didn't know both of us just me. but other than financial information what are they looking for? I will write a detailed account of what lead to the ending of the marriage, but i almost feel like their just going to read that and assume its just one persons view.

We received an RFE yesterday also - asking for the exact same things. In my initial package I enclosed:

1. Affidavit from my mother and landlord.

2. Copy of our joint tax returns for 2009 and 2010.

3. Copy of the beneficiary designation of my life insurance to my husband.

4. Copies of our joint car insurance.

5. Copy of our joint checking account.

6. Copy of our joint electric bill.

7. Copy of our reservations for a vacation we took together.

8. Copy of our business licenses (we each run a business).

9. Various photos of us together and us with my children.

THEY WANT MORE?????????????????????

The first thing on the list of acceptable proof is a birth certificate of a child we have together - we don't have a child and we have been trying for 2 years to get pregnant! I had an 8 week miscarriage and at least one if not two or three 4 week chemical pregnancies. I'm on fertility drugs. I just don't know what else to do!

I'm sorry for what your going through too. I wonder if you can use the fact that your trying to get pregnant together? maybe doctors affidavits? i don't know what else they want, I'm running out of things to send them.

The affidavits should be from friends and relatives who actually interacted with you both as a couple and are able to attest that from these interactions you were in a bona fide marriage.

If they asked you for an affidavit regarding the termination of the marriage it's because they want to hear your view on what led to the breakdown of your marriage. So give it to them and be detailed.

we had health insurance through my work, i believe i sent copies of the cards and insurance papers but i will double check that. all the utilities and stuff was in his name, i don't remember renters insurance on that place, i believe i have sent them everything i had that was in both names. i read that the important things were financial documents in both names, which i already provided, I'm hoping that the tax transcripts and my statement are all they need to push this through.

First of all, let me say something. In a few cases, Naturtalized USC's tend to obsessive and compulsive, and controlling. Like I said, in a few cases. The person who was born and raised here, don't have time for that sort of behaviour. For some remote reason, the naturalized USC believes that because they were here longer than you, it means that they need to 'control' you. Maybe this is based on culture? I won't answer. In my earlier posts, I explained how my Naturalized USC wife is obsessive and compulsive, even though she doesn't see it that way. She believes that a husband needs to be a well conditioned poodle. Well that seems to be the culture of her parents...Anyway, you need to gather evidence that shows there was a sincere marriage. Get affidavits from whoever you talked to when you were in the marriage. I am sure that you told someone how your marriage was going. they can say how you were depressed, and down during that time, if that happened. Also, who did you associated with after the divorce? They can also explain how you were. Explain to USCIS that the bills were already in hs name when you got here, and that he never changed it, if that's the case. Send your tax transcripts.send bills, even though your name is not on them, with an explaination. send copies of driver's licenses showing you both resided at the same address. Doctors receipts and bills addressed to same address also counts. I wish you all success. Remember, it will always turn out ok. USCIS hardly ever deport someone who divorced, unless they really really can't prove they lived together. You have been together for a whole year, so, you have nothing to worry about. Did you file with a lawyer? If you didn't, get one now before you submit your RFE's. It can make a difference. Just my two-bits.
