Hi, I remember that the I-129f's used to be processed quicker than the i-130's but now I'm looking at the Timelines here on this site and it seems that the I-130s are going quicker now. Is this just a temporary fluctuation or is it due to new procedures? Did anyone else notice the change in the time?

Thanks,

Lennard

Honestly, I am not sure which would be faster? There are so many factors to consider, country of beneficator (your fiance'), service center processing the petition, etc... It seems K-1 visas might be quicker especially being process through Vermont center. Looks like the average time is amount of 127 days between NOA1 to NOA2. Well I would look for similar threads on your situation with timelines that might fit your situation. Good Luck!

That's what I thought too, but actually it really just depends on how well you organize and pure luck.

Currently.... they have issued Ice the incorrect GC and we have tried 4 times to fix it. First time they had us send it to the incorrect address. Second time they said we used an expired form, which was the form they gave us. Third time was "oh sorry we lost the last page, can you send it again?." Fourth time is the gov is shut down. Will this ever be corrected in time for Ice to get the permanent GC? Stay tuned to find out. T_T

The petition processing time variance would be a temporary fluctuation but your subject line is a false statement. USCIS doesn't issue visas. The process from filing to visa is still a minimum of a couple months faster for fiance than a spouse because of the NVC stage required for the CR1 and IR1 visas.

Thanks for the replies. I just noticed that for the CR1/IR1 visa, it takes 81 days at the NVC as opposed to just 8 days for the K-1. Am I reading this correctly? If so, why does it take so much longer at the NVC for the CR1/IR1? If this is the case, then the K-1 is definitely faster!

For K visas, the NVC is only a mail stop. All the NVC does is assign the file a case number and then send it to the appropriate Embassy or Consulate.

For CR/IR visas, the NVC is intake for Affidavit of Support forms and documentation from the petitioner and intake of the immigrant visa application and civil documentation from the beneficiary.

Ryan provided the correct answer but unless you haven't yet met your fiancee or have a trip planned in the very near future, the time from filing to visa is not the issue. You can file the fiancee petition now, but can't file the spouse petition until after you have a spouse. Most folks are looking at TODAY until they are together. So, calculate the difference between NOW and when your fiancee can be here and NOW and when a spouse could be here. The differencet is not the difference in general timelines. You must add the time between now and when you would have a spouse.

Is temporary fluctuation, based on the shifting of the adjudicators

from one case type to other case types (in this instance, shifting TO I-130's for spousal visas)

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I think it depends on where you are at with your relationship, if you are just getting engaged then K1, ready to me married then CR1/1R1. Overall looking back my wife could have worked, finished her home untill getting approved then came to us and had a GC immediately, but as she says we would not have been together. I would call it a glitch, lets see.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.
