Hi Everyone!

So we filed our AOS/EAD/AP paperwork on, if memory serves me, something like December 16. I was on a K1 visa before which expired pretty much the day we sent it in. We mailed it all in to Chicago, along with the cheque which showed as cashed December 19. We then received our NOA1 for the GC, EAD and AP together within two days after that and the biometrics appointment we just got today on the 26 December, with an appointment for Friday 13 January (lucky for some...) in Columbus, Ohio.

Anyway the point of this post is not to brag or anything, but more because I am SO surprised it took that quick for them to get the NOA1's and the bio appointment out. I honestly wasn't expecting to hear from them until probably mid January. Now, obviously I'm not complaining or anything but because it's been so much faster than that my notions about how long it'll take to adjust status have been completely thrown off. So what I'm really asking is, from people who've gone through AOS, how long did it take for you guys to get to this point after filing and, more importantly, how long can I expect/hope for it to take before I can get my EAD and GC? The EAD is the one I'm really biting at the bit to get because as a person who's always worked I hate the fact I'm basically housebound, but my sister is having a baby back in the UK in January and I'd love to think I'd be able to have the greencard to visit her with sometime in spring (I know advance parole allows you to travel but, call me paranoid, I just don't like the idea of traveling until I have permanent residency. the only reason we applied for AP when filing AOS is because we figured we may as well since it was included in the price). So when do you think I can expect to get those? I'm not stupid, I know the answer ultimately is 'there's no way of knowing for sure', but what would be a realistic guess given how speedy it's been so far? Does the fact it's been fast to get the NOA1 and Biometrics appointment have any bearing whatsoever on the timings of the rest of the process? My hunch is that, although it doesn't mean it will for sure, it might mean *it* arrives quicker than expected. I wasn't expecting to get the EAD until probably March.

Thanks!

I got my Noa's and bio appointment really quickly aswell. I'm not going to get my hopes up that it means quicker approval though so i'm still guessing around March for me also. I will be interested to know when you get yours though seeing as though we have a pretty similar timeline.

The fast NOA and bio don't have a bearing on the rest of the process. The fast bio means your local office has openings. Your EAD will just sit in a pile after you've done biometrics for 2-3 months before it is approved. Good luck!

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
