I know this early to ask but I wanted some opinions. I am in the process to waiting for my I-129F petition to get approved. I meet my fiance' back in April 2010 and we finally met in Manila face to face in November 2010. I finally got the money to send her petition in back in September 2011. The normal approval in time for the Vermont Center is usually 5 months, so I hope to hear something by January-Feburary. I am not trying to jinx myself. What are options if something should happen and my 2 year period of meeting has lapsed? I like everything should go well because I have plenty of evidence along with filing with 2 children on the petition. Thanks for any advice!

Happy Holidays!

You need to have meet in the last 2 years prior to filing. That's it. You passed that requirement already.

The two year period isn't something that is ongoing - it's two years at the time on filing the i-129f petition. So your two year timeframe is from September 2009 to September 2011. It doesn't start over the further you get into the process.

Anything that you have of proof since then(visitng, ongoing relationship etc) your fiancee may be requested to take to the interview, and a visit since your first is never a bad idea of course.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

If you met her in person 2008 backwards, didn't come back in PI and you filed just now, your application will be rejected.

He stated they met in person in November 2010 and filed in September 2011 - 10 months later. No trouble there.
