Hello all, I am so exhausted, trying to get a receipt of paid traffic violation ticket which i got back in 2009 and was paid at that time USCIS wants me to show the proof that its been paid during my re-interview. I have called courts, DMV and Traffic violation dept., in NYC and no help. I need this for Immigration purpose. If any one was able to get this in past please let me know how you got it, or if you know how to get it then plz plz plz let me know.

Can you go to the DMV and get a printout of your driving record? That will show if you have anything outstanding. Also how did you pay? Personal check (hopefully)? Usually such records are purged after time. I had to prove I paid a ticket 4 years after the fact and the bank no longer exists. It involved a lot of legwork.

Maybe go to the ticket pay office and say you want to PAY OFF an old ticket. That will get their attention. Then when they see that you owe nothing, say you do not believe them and want a printout.

I have the record from DMV, it just calls out for ticket date time and location stuff, nothing about whether its paid or not. I think i paid via check, I think USCIS wants to know if the tickets where under $500 and they are paid.

I guess i will go to traffic violation dept., and see if i can get any thing.

Why would USCIS even care about a traffic violation?

Not sure, but they sent me a letter for re-interview and requested proof of payment for the traffic violation tickets and DMV records.

If you paid by check contact your bank.

Since one of my kids sold auto insurance, learned about a database they have access to that list your entire driving record. To get started with my stepdaughter, contacted my auto insurance agent. Also been a lot of scams in this country with guys pretending to be the police, even if you get a ticket out of state, it is suppose to be reported to your DMV located in the capital of your state. Can find that on the internet for contact information. If your ticket isn't listed, more than likely you have been scammed.

Course can also run into sloppy court houses, just want your money and toss the paperwork away, to them its history. I assume your IO asked you if you had any traffic violations and you answered yes. Then asked if you had proof if you paid them. If you still have your drivers' license, more than likely you did. If a traffic fine is not paid, can expect a visit from your local police to show up, remove your license plates and take away your drivers' license.

You have to answer yes to any traffic violations, even a parking ticket, if you answered no, to even a two buck parking ticket, and they find out about it, you lied on your N-400 and for that, can be deported. When I got my senators office involved with my stepdaughters' minor traffic violations, the St. Paul office changed their tune. We had nothing to hide.

The fact that you are putting forth an effort will count for you when there is doubt in the incident.

Wow I wish you the best of luck with that honestly. When I went in for the interview the IO asked me about anything on my record and on my original application I did not put down that I had two traffic tickets and when it came up I came clean about them and he asked me if they were under 500 dollars and if they were paid off to which I responded yes and he just kept going did not even bother to write down that I had received them and as far as I know USCIS does not request documentation for tickets under 500 dollars.

Some IO's are acting illegally in this respect, three years ago with my wife's name on our home deed, four vehicles, four years of joint tax returns, bank accounts, health, life, and auto insurance, still wasn't enough, wanted a completely worthless joint utility bill.

Stepdaughter didn't require any of that stuff for the five year, did you get any traffic violations? Doesn't even have to be reported, well I want proof you paid those. In our state like others, if you don't pay those fines, would no longer have a drivers' license, no matter how small, plus an additional fine if not paid on time. Senators office corrected that a$$hole IO, I wouldn't mind meeting him in a dark ally.

Ridiculous. Meanwhile there are millions of illegal immigrants in this country and they are treated better than some of us that are perfectly lawful and legal immigrants and we can be so easily deported at the first chance. It's just not fair.
