I can't beleive I received an email this evening telling me that they sent an RFE on December 8th. I don't know what to send them or what they could be asking for. My fiancee and I were engaged when I was 17 and he 21. I called off the engagement claiming that I was too young and migrated to the US. We found one another 30 years later. I sent them our photos from our summer vacation, engagement dinner, with my son, daughter in law and his daughter, other messages between my fiancee and my other sons. I also submitted letters signed by my son, his wife and their American Citizen friend who vacationed with us as witnesses to our engagement and relationship.

I posted here before and for one reason or another I did not get much help or responses. I need your input and would appreciate any suggestions.

(Unfortunately neither one of us has the engagement photos from 30 years ago:( )

No one here can tell you anything. You have to wait for the letter to come in the mail to find out what they want from you.

I know you're right, I am just so anxious, we had a problem with my fiance's rental home, I asked him not to rent again and sign a one year lease, he is now working on a ship and is in Sicily right now. It's been really tough, I just want to receive this RFE tomorrow and send it back to them on Monday if I can.

I am leaving on December 28 to his native country and will spend 5 weeks there and I hope everything else falls in its place so that I can help him with preparing everything before his interview.

Thanks anyway, I know I just panicking

Forever waiting (your story sounds like the original Love in the Time of Cholera!)

I bet your hard copy will be in the mail tomorrow (Saturday, actually today.)

It will clearly spell out exactly what they want and need from you.

Well... they will at least tell you what insufficiencies they see in your application/petition. Then, post it here. Mine came last Monday, and it was a little unusual. I posted it here and within the day, received lots of helpful pointers as to how to fulfill the insufficiency.

My response with accompanying documentation that I've put together this past week will be in the mail Sat or Mon and I expect good results, fast!

Take advantage of the board!

Thank you, I did receive my hard copy today and could not believe it. They are asking both of us for divorce papers from former marriages. ( I sent them in with the I 129 package) I have mine which I will resend, but my fiance is out in the Mediterranean Sea, somewhere near Sicily. He has to go back to Turkey and obtain the death certificate for his former wife. Apparently in Turkey the death shows on what they call "birth registry sample" and that is usually good enough for all government agencies. I know this because I have translated this document many times, the certificate clearly indicates all life's events. SO he has to wait until his ship goes back and he will go to the hospital where his wife passed on and ask for a copy. I don't see this happening for at least another two weeks.:(

This will just put the whole thing off for a couple of weeks. Its upsetting, I wonder if I took the birth registry sample to the Turkish Embassy and have them certify the death would help?

So I can welcome my Florentino Ariza into my life;)again.

Thanks Gringo for the hint, I'm going to look for this 2007 movie on Netflix and watch it. Sounds almost like our story.
