Hey guys.

My wife and I are putting our paperwork together this week. My GC expires on the 16th of March next year so (if my math is right). we should be just within the 90 day window after this coming friday (Dec 16th). so want to get into the december filers... but part of me wonders if it would be more prudent to wait till after Christmas to avoid additional postage traffic ? not long after, maybe 27th.

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the group Gary!

You certainly have a lot of time to play it safe when it comes to mailing important documents during all the holiday hoopla. One week wait will probably not have much impact on your processing time, but it will give you a peace of mind so that you aren't worried whether your mail will be lost/delayed in the crowded postage traffic. If I had any doubts, I would wait until after Christmas. But then again I am a last minute filer and you probably should not listen to me :)

Best of luck to you!

Personally, I'd send it as soon as you are able. But that's just me.

Having said that, I'm incredibly nervous, because I put my envelope in the mail (Priority Post) on Saturday, registered for tracking updates, and haven't seen a thing since then...

Hi Gary!

I would send it as soon as it's ready.

However, do keep in mind that it's 90 days, not 3 months. To be safe, send it after the 17th of this month to avoid a return!

Wyatt I didn't get any tracking updates either. I went to the USPS website and checked, and got the information.

Yeah...it's still just saying on USPS' site that the status of the item is: "Electronic Shipping Info Received". No location or anything. Which worries me a great deal.

I probably shouldn't have sent any originals in my package, but I did... I'm likely fretting for nothing, but if I don't get a status update by midday tomorrow, I'll have to go down to my post office and check things out.

If there are any Los Angeles filers in this group, I highly recommend the Wilshire ASC office for biometrics if getting downtown is convenient for you. I walked in and the staff was very professional, efficient and friendly.

I cut it very close. Mailed my packet on the 7th by Express Mail, and USPS shows it arrived on the 8th. My green card expired on the 11th (Sunday), so I'd REALLY like my NOA to get here so I can go to the DMV and renew my driver's license (since Virginia requires "proof of legal presence" to issue a license).
