I am living in another country and got married last March. I am a U.S citizen and I want to register my wife. What do I need to do,and how long will it take.

What country are you living in and how long have you lived in said country? If the country has a USCIS field office and you have lived there for 6 months or more on a long term stay visa or residence permit (tourist visa extensions do not count), then you can file a petition at the USCIS field office in that country. If there is no USCIS field office in the country you are living in, then the petition will need to be sent to the Chicago lockbox facility.

July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file
September 1, 2011: NVC case number assigned
September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)
October 6, 2011: Case complete at NVC
November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

i assume you intend to bring her to the US? apply a 130/IR1 for her. will take around 9 months average. go to uscis.gov. click on the I130 form and instrcutions. you can read on there too for the details =)

Pay your court ordered child support arrears first. If you don't her visa is a no go, and your passport will likely be revoked and returned to the US for you to face the responsibilities you have.

What exactly do you mean by "Register" your wife?

If you're looking to move her to the US even if she gets approved for a Visa she can't enter the US before you do so you will need to take care of your legal issues here first.


Must have info for bringing your Philippine wife/fiancee's child to the US
