Hi, I've been married since August 2010. I'm finally filling the first petition i-130 for my husband. As this journey begins I am so nervous and i can't even sleep. I guess i just need some encouragement. I keep thinking of every possible thing that could go wrong. I'm also 7 months pregnant and i know the stress is not good for the baby but man this whole thing is scary. :( I keep going over and over the packet. I'm a wreck! i need to just mail it already!

Follow the guides here on VJ and do some reading in the regional forum as well. The regional will help you learn the expectations of the specific embassy/consulate that you will be dealing with. If it's Lagos, be very well prepared. It's considered the toughest.

There are many members that have been successful at Lagos. Use their experience to help you two throughout the process.

It may not be an easy process but it is a doable one. Make sure you have all your ducks in a row and don't leave any reason for he CO to doubt your relationship.

Good luck :)

My husband was approved for his visa. Your journey has just begun, and if you follow these steps. Everything should be ok. The key is being prepared way in advance. Do not let him walk in there with nothing; he will come out of there with nothing. Make sure you need to print out phone records along with your phone bill records. He needs to have wedding pictures with friends and family members in them. Also, you need to have emails of yours and his print out and bounded. Everything should be NEAT and in order. Print out everything you get from UCIS and NVC and have him print out and put in a binder. The Key is paper trail and pictures you want to prove that this is a bon a fide relationship. Before, he gets his interview date you should rehearse and ask him question that you think they might ask. For example, how do you communicate? Who petition for you? These are standard questions. If you start now with your paper trail you should have a successful interview.

Best wishes! :)

 Congrats to you Newchild

And the paper trail printed should be at least from Day One that you met and started talking up to the date you mailed the Petition. Even still keep printing the paper trail after you mail the I-130 because you will want to show continuous relationship even after filing. And since this is Lagos we are talking about...I am a firm believer of frontloading the I-130, and of course prayer.

God Bless in filing and Congrats in advance on the birth of your baby

Thanks so much! Thing is we don;t chat or email each other. We only talk on the phone and maybe fb chat once in awhile. When we started dating i was already in Nigeria visiting family and i was there for about 6 months. so i plan on printing all my itineraries, call records and the few fb chats i have, pics, etc. Thanks so much tho!
