How to have a dual citizenship?

I am currently on K-1 visa. I am just wondering if anyone here knows how to be a dual citizen on both Philippines and in US.

How long is the process?

Can I deal with it as soon as I land in the US?

Do I wait to be a USC first then work on it?

What are the pro's and cons?

USC means US Citizen. LPR means Legal Permanent Resident, which is what you will eventually become after you have arrived here with the K-1, married your fiance and filed the AOS paperwork. Once the AOS goes through, you will receive your GC and become an LPR.

You have to be a permanent resident for 3 years before you can applu for citizenship (well, 90 days shy of 3 years is when you can file the petition). For those three years you have to maintain residence in the US, which means not spending excessive time abroad.

Wherther or not Philippinos can haev dual-citizenship, I don't know, but someone here most certainly will and probably will chime in soon.

shortest average is 3.5 years from K1 to citizenship approval so anytime after that you can go back to the philippines and apply (one to several days commitment)

no, you can't do anything til your citizenship is approved.

yes, you have to wait til your a citizens

pros and cons: ease of travel in and out of US, in and out of Phils; no change in reqs for processing docs in the future; husband can have certain rights in the philippines

such rights as higher percentage in ratio (compared to a non-FIlipino citizen or spouse of an LPR) to own real estate properties and engage in business

also later on, your children will have easier admission in philippine schools (compared to US citizens), -no complicated requirements =)

Unfortunately my country don't accepted dual citizenship. Lucky you that Phillippines do that.
