Hi All

I managed to get my interview moved up to this tuesday! IM really nervous, although by reading the experiences everyone else has had I know I shouldnt be, but I cant help it. I was just wondering if we are allowed to bring folders, etc into the interview to hold our paperwork. I have pictures and a lot of documents that I keep in a leather portfolio and i was wondering if thats ok to bring in the interview, if not what is suggested?

You may receive better responses if you post what country you have your interview with. Other VJers with experience can tell you what is allowed at that particular embassy. Some embassies have very small windows where you can only slide in small packages of documentation.

Good luck to you and try your best not to be worried or nervous....this is your day.

All my K1 stuff was in a folder, but then all the relationship evidence was loose so I carried it in a leather briefcase/compendium type thing. You'll be fine with what you're bringing.

Do you guys have any suggestions for evidence? We dont have a bank account, or any "official" stuff - we have a lease together and Ive got photographs, emails between me and him, me and his mum, me and his friends, Facebook screen shots throughout our relationship, wedding receipts, invitations from people to the both of us for weddings etc, phone bills, cards and letter he has sent to me. I dont have chat logs, or skype logs, as we do our communicating over the phone - anything else you can suggest?

The stuff you have is good. Are you a K1 or a Cr-1? Please set your profile flag, what visa you are applying for, and your timeline. It will help immensely. I thought you were K1 but now I read "wedding receipts" I'm wondering if you're CR-1.

Im CR-1. Im a little worried because our situation is different from most couples. We met online when i was living in Boston, I had no interest in him and before we met I deleted my account and went back to australia. He stalked me on Facebook about 6 months later. As we deleted our accounts, we have no documents from our online dating days. We got engaged in the US christmas last year and then I left and came back to Australia and we got married in AUstralia. His parents and sister came out for the wedding too. Im worried because we don't have any "official" evidence such as tax returns, joint bank account etc. We have a lease, itemized phone bills, emails from different members of his family and friends, facebook snapshots, TONS of pictures from different events, and lots of cards from him and members of his family. Part of me thinks that if anything in our application looked a bit "suspect" that we would have received an RFE prior so I shouldnt be too worried - I just cant help it.

No tax returns? When did you get married? Joint bank accounts he could add your name to the bank accounts. Some banks need a SSN but some don't. Those two though are easily explained by not having a SSN.

At this stage I think your evidence is fine. You're not living together so it's hard to have a lot of the evidence they might require. Australia's a pretty easy consulate as well.

I look forward to your positive review :D

We got married 6 months ago, after we filed our tax returns. I do have a SSN (having worked in the US before), but when we went to add me to his account, they required a visa or a permanent residency, neither of which I had at the time. Im just REALLY nervous - and thank you so much for your help!

That's a bit bizarre (about the SSN that is) but I really think you'll be okay :)
