So I came to the states in July, on a k-1. We just got done with the whole newlywed thing and it's time for AOS.

Two problems: my husbands license is set to his old address, and I don't have a license or even know how to drive yet

It snows really heavily here, dcember and february being the worst months. They even close roads from time to time due to heavy snow. Now my fear is that we file for AOS, and I miss my biometrics or interview

We have everything else as far as evidence goes, but I don't know what to do about AOS.I'm really tired of staying home 24.7 and not working, but I don't wanna get myself in a pickle with USCIS or ICE. What do you suggest?

Get started on your AOS, what does your husbands license (drivers lic or what?) have to with filing the AOS?

The local offices have dealt with inclimate weather before, be concerned about the weather

when that time arrives.. You don't want a situation where you are out of status and months away from a GC.

I did some cold weather training in Bridgeport, and it does get beyond cold up there.

Good luck

Well license IS part of evidence,as farasi know, both of our licenses should be to the same addres, but I figured I could get started and present the licnse thing at the interview.

It is freezing here today ,like REALLY bad

Your hsband can change his DL to current adress. My hubby had his old adress on DL too, we went and did the adress change and got the new DL in about a week.

And you don`t necessarily need to use the DL`s as evidence if you don`t have yours by then. I couldn`t get mine before i got the GC anyway so there was no way we could`ve use DL as evidence.

Good luck!

Your husband can drop by DMV and update the address in less than 10 minutes, surely the DMV in your area does not get packed like in the more urban areas.

Get the AOS process started and in the system, once you have your SSN you can get a California ID card then go for the license later. That California ID will serve you well also, minus the driving priveleges.

You're 6400 ft. above sea level, it's gonna be cold, and in a few weeks, today will seem like a warm summer day. Bundle up.

Well I got my ssn and military ID. So I'm good as far as that goes.we gotta go to Nevada for the DMV thing, also another question, typically how long does it take for them to schedule and interview after biometrics?I just wanna make sure I'll have enough time to inform them in case something comes up as far as weather goes?

Driver's license can be evidence IF you have it but it's certainly not the most important piece of evidence. In most states, immigrants can't even get it (or ID card) until they have proof of legal presence (=green card).

Nobody can give you a definite answer to that, it depends on how busy your local office is.

My Immigration Journey:

K1: June 2010 - December 2010

AOS: April 2011 - June 2011

ROC: April 2013 - August 2013

Naturalization: March 2014 - August 2014

The sooner you can file the better. Are you very far from your local office? If the weather is really awful your office may end up being closed certain days as well so you'd be rescheduled. The big issue would be the interview as you could always attempt a biometrics walk in in advance, though that isn't guaranteed.

The license is important - the first thing we were asked was to present IDs with matching addresses - but that can be taken care of easily and quickly, often over the internet.

You also have to consider if you wait to file, you don't know how long your process will take. Your local office could become backed up or you could get RFEs and next thing you know your process has taken longer than expected and it's winter again.
