If you have too high a GPA, they might assume either you have no life, or you are a total kissass. That kid could drop to a solid 3.4, and still make out well, given that attitude.

The top 1% in this country have an AGI of $380K or above (tax year 2008).

That attitude may guarantee him a life off the welfare rolls but it won't guarantee him 380K or up.
