immigration fee at the final visa interview

Timeline

After few days i have my IR1/CR1 visa interview in U.S embassy Islamabad i thought there is no fee left to pay during my interview in Islamabad. But i read at the following link that again i have to pay 400$ in islamabad embassy during my visa interview please check the following link and comment and mark your comments about it.

Did u pay 420- I-130, 88$ for the AOS, and 400 for the DS-230? U don't need to pay anything else. Unless I am wrong

you misread it...

If the sealed envelope is opened prior to arrival in the United States, the immigrant visa fee of $400 must be paid again

this is only paid if the sealed envelope has been opened :)

I think you should read this about pakistan

It says the Visa fee IS due the same day as your interview.

May 24, 2011 NOA1

Sept 11, 2011 NOA2-took 19 days to get case number

Sept 30, 2011 NVC number and IIN received Friday-gotta wait till Monday

Oct 13, 2011 Case Completed- 13 days from receiving case number Took 32 days from NOA2

Nov 30, 2011 Notified of Interview date

January 19, 2012 Interview- 240 days from NOA1

INTERVIEW RESULTS-APPROVED WITH 14 WEEKS AP--but he got his visa in 56 days!!!!!!

PLEASE EDIT YOUR TIMELINE IN YOUR PROFILE SO OTHERS CAN LEARN HOW LONG EACH STEP TAKES IN THIS PROCESS

the cr1 visa is paid at the NVC level before they approve and complete the pkg sending it to ISL for the interview

What you read is about the brown envelope AFTER you get your visa. Just like Dan and Jenni said.... The envelope contains your case file and is given to the officer at POE UNOPENED... if it is opened you have to pay another $400 fee.

Or it is talking about a K-1 visa--the embassy information is jumbled up between K-1 and CR-1 on almost every embassy page.

The pakistan site says the visa fee is due the same day but i take it as k1 visas are due that day to be paid but cr1 visa fees should be paid and forwarded the info to the consulate so it is known the same day as being paid in advance... ISL does things a little diff LOL :bonk:

You don't so don't worry... just be sure to have enough money for the shuttle which i cant remb how much, there wont be a fee for courier service either as i know my husband didnt have to pay for that...
