Hi, we just received a checklist frm nvc, this is what it says -Checklist for I-864A (filed by Co-sponsor ) "You as a household member have not provided proof of your relationship to the sponsor"

What exactly they want us to send? I'm quite confused cuz it was my husband who filed the AOS for us. Is it birth certificate of my husband??? :help: Thanks Venice

Yes, It was my father in law.

I don't understand why the NVC want the proof of a relationship to the co-sponsor! As I know, the requirement to be a sponsor is just to be a LPR or U.S. citizen. Have you received the RFE in mail? Maybe you take a look later what exactly they want!

I dunno I'm so confused also, my husband is USC by birth so is my father in law. I recieved it thru email. I'm thinking maybe bcuz the co sponsor is same household? Well my husband said its just his birth certificate and the affidavit of resident thats what they want. Do you think the nvc doesnt need the birth certificate of my father in law(co -sponsor)? Thanks a lot for ur quick response :)

It's because you sent the I-864A for the co-sponsor, not just another I-864. The I-864A is only for a household member- there must be a relationship between the person filling in the I-864 (your husband in this case) and the person filling in the I-864A (your father-in-law). So proof that they life together, have a family relationship etc.

Bye: Penguin

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Thank you so much Penguin_ie :) So my husband is right, the missing documents is his BC and affidavit of resident of my father in law and him. I really hope they dont need my father in law's BC bcuz he doesnt have it gosh. Thanks again for the clarification, cuz sometimes i don't like asking my husband cuz he doesnt want to listen to me, his to stubborn and easily get frustrated.

Can your husband send in his birth certificate and then have him send in his parent's marriage certificate? This is what I did and it worked without any problems. I highlighted my mom's name on my birth certificate and then my step-dad's name on their marriage certificate, just so they didn't have any questions as to why I was sending what I sent.
