We are all getting so close now!

I cant sleep at night anymore. All I can do is lay in bed and think about everything. I have been so busy lately getting everything ready for him. Health insurance enrollments, plane bookings, moving, :help: My head wont stop spinning :wacko: Yet it is all so worth it!

I don't think we need SSN to enroll anyone in any of our benefits (of course we can't generalize thinks) - I could enroll in my benefits, 401K & Insurance.

That is true only for beneficiaries. Beneficiary can be anyone and that person/s does not even need to reside in US

You don't need a SS# to nominate a beneficiarry for 401K and life insurance.

To enroll someone under your health insurance the person has to be a dependent. As a requirement from the government to avoid health insurance fraud the dependant needs a SS#. The only exception are the new babies who are allowed to be enrolled without a SS for 90 days from the day of birth. This is the rule that applies to employees whose part of their health insurance is subsidized by the employer. Not sure what the law says for privately purchased health insurance ( can't afford that)

I would love to be there with my wife....my school schedule just can not allow it and India is not close to the States that a 3 day trip can be planned. It's ok though... as long as she gets her visa approved and visa in hand soon after with all information correct will I be able to rest peacefully. POE I am not worried about... I have family members from here in the States that are travelling to India and are planning to bring her back home to the USA as long as the interview goes ok and we get approved.

It's all about patience... I just keep picturing the reunion...I'm gonna squeeze her so hard and never let her go again! yes.gif

VFS is done! My wife called me around 5 AM my time and she told me some things but I was too tired from studying the previous night before that I can not recall the details right now. I do know she is done with VFS though.

I was wondering how can you enroll your husband for health insurance if he doesn't have a SS yet? My job will start the enrollment soon and I am not sure how to go about it. Don’t want hubby to be without one for an entire year once he gets here

There is a form that you sign that basically states (a) I do not want to provide you with my SSN or (b) I do not have a SSN. I signed it as option (b) and put notes that he will be arriving here December 4th,will have a SSN within a few months, and we will give them that information when we receive it! Our open enrollment was this month so I had to get it done now! I was also able to add him as beneficiary of life insurance and such too!

Called the embassy earlier this week ... For my required documentation (birth certificate from Joint-Sponsor) .. It needs to be a certified one, a regular copy will not be sufficient ... So as soon as it gets to my Sponsor in the States, it'll be Fedexxed my way ... What a drag! Thank God 'homecoming' is soon!

Call NVC, get a human and ask when they forwarded it to the Embassy..

Have you gotn an interviewdate? If you havent, you should find out. In the first place, NVC schedules that for you, and you can go from there...

If you want another interviewdate, you can follow procedures to schedule maybe another one/earlier one...

:) Can't wait to go home either... We've all been in this together, I'm glad for all the info everyone has provided, all the good advices and talks! Couldnt of made it without everyone's help out here! We will all be reunited and have a happy ever after I"m sure! :)

Take all the documents you have sent on a pen drive if you have time to scan everything before your trip.

Have a safe trip and hopefully I can bring good news first for the interview before you do! :)

Man...it makes me so jealous of everyone able to travel to be with the husband/wife on the day of the interview... makes me not want to log into VJ!
