We waited six months before contacting our congressman. Calling USCIS will just give you the standard reply of "You're within the processing time."

So 188 days and counting for me... I guess tomorrow is the magical 189th day which seems to be popular for approvals. The timeline suggests it might be any day now. Depressed.

I'm in October, but just reading what you guys are saying about calling USCIS...I'm a proactive person and I'm not good about just sitting around, but I feel like I will get more discouraged if I call USCIS. Do you agree that it is kind of a waste of time to call USCIS if you are still under six months?

There is absolutely nothing you can do to get it approved faster. Unless you file for an expediate. If you can't file for that then anything else you do will simply have no effect. You can still try it just to keep yourself from going crazy. It will get approved when it gets approved and not anytime sooner.

I think so... they've stopped the 5-month average time now, I guess, to discourage callers and to cover their butts when ppl still havent gotten replies past their 5-month mark... I'm also proactive, but i think in this case, its best to wait til 6.5 month mark before doing anything... just my opinion though... i didn't bother calling beacause i saw the responses others were getting and i got mine 9 days prior to hitting 6 months...

Right there with you. The process is brutal and separation only adds to the negativity. Try to distract yourself and stay positive. Beats the alternative of obsessing and stressing. Keep your chin up. It will come and all this will be a memory.

Hello all,

As I've mentioned before we have surpassed the six month mark. I just called uscis today and the guy on the other line just regurgitated the exact same information I could see on their website. I really don't even see why they tell you to call in. There's no point. As someone said, they have chaned the 5 month marker to august 2nd. I guess we just keep waiting and praying and hoping our time will come soon. I think it will!

Well, we have no other option. Calling and following up with congressmen and others would just get us more depressed because it's of no use. It seriously sucks that we are left with no timeline whatsoever. SUCKS:(((((
