My fiance in India sent me a digital copy of his passport photo. When I took it to have it printed I ran into some problems. The photo center does not have an India template so couldn't print it to India standards and the photo does not fit US standards. This left me questioning who's standards it should fit, India or the US? If India, how do I get it printed to their standards?

Upload the picture here: http://www.epassportphoto.com/. Choose the US 2 x 2 standard. There will then be a cropping tool to make the picture 2 x 2. You can then either print it out yourself if you have picture paper, or you can bring it to a pharmacy or something to print it out yourself for a low cost.

Thanks for your responses so far. I was able find another place that printed the photo and said they did it to US standards, but when I got home and measured it I'm not sure it is. From the very top of the head to the bottom of the chin is nearly 1 4/8ths inches. The standards say this measurement should be 1 3/8ths. Do you think it's unacceptable?

As long as the entire picture is 2 x 2, that's all that really matters for dimensions.

Really? It does not need to meet the dimensions in the "photo composition template"?

To a degree. But you said there was only a difference of 1/8 of an inch. I don't think they're that picky. As long as it's 2 x 2 and their face is visible and everything, then you should be fine.

Okay, well if they're not that picky everything else about the photo looks good. Thanks! BTW, great site you provided.

Excellent! I'm really glad I read this post as I'm sure I will be having the exact same issue when I get my fiance's passport photo.

I will definitely be using this site when I get his picture :)

I am the petitioner.

I've never seen anyone get an RFE for that dimension. But I have seen when it's not been 2 x 2.

And yes, it's a great site. Stumbled upon it here on VJ last year and saved me from spending $30 like I did for our I-130 submission. Photos for NVC, the medical, and the interview were completely free because of the site :)

Definitely use the site. I was so grateful I found it because of all the money I saved!

Gosh I almost got into a fight with a photographer in the Philippines when my face looked bigger in my 2x2 photo. But I didn't get an RFE for it though.
