My EP experience

It has been two weeks since I emailed the DS-230 package to the NVC, 9 days since they sent me an email acknowledging receipt of the package. Now it seems my file has come to a screeching halt. I decided to call the AVR (did so using the old GUZ number as the AVR does not recognize GZO) and the AVR tells me they have reviewed the documents I sent and they have missing information.........#######

I will be calling an operator tomorrow morning and if I don't like the answer they give me, I will speak to a supervisor. Right now I'm thinking I may end up having to resubmit what I already sent them. Such BS. If I do end up resubmitting, I'm not putting a case number on the upper right corner of documents, I stand by my assertion that is an unnecessary thing to do.

I officially withdraw this rant. I spoke with a very helpful NVC operator this morning and I went over the DS-230 that I had sent and noticed a very small typo that I didn't catch prior to sending it. This is obviously MY FAULT. The only person I'm angry at is myself for not being more thorough than I was.

ug. Well, is good to fix it, get it restarted again in the 'review DS-230' queue at NVC. Soon, I sense, you'll wrap up with case-complete - I'm thinking Thursday. Or Prior.

Received the Case Complete email from the NVC this morning!!!!!!! Woo hoo, finally got that case complete!!!!!

To those of you who will be following me, I probably would have received a case complete last week had it not been for a small typo on the DS-230 that required the form to be resubmitted. So learn from this experience, double check, triple check, quadruple check, and then check again all forms before sending them off to the NVC.

Interview date should be scheduled soon, will update as appropriate.

Grats on the case complete Ryan! At least the RFE didn't put you that far behind as you got the CC quickly after you submitted the corrected DS-230.

OMG - that was thursday. My cracked crystal ball is finally working again.

I called the State Department line during the day today and asked if an interview had been scheduled, they told me not yet.

I called the NVC this evening and was told by the operator and had it confirmed by a supervisor that there are no more dates available for November.

Don't believe them. Guangzhou Consulate normally gives out interview time about 30 days in advance. So if you get the interview date in the next few days you will be looking at early to mid November interview.

What a difference a day makes, I called the NVC again today and they told me the interview has been scheduled!!!!!!!

I received the interview letter a short time later in my inbox.

Document intake will occur on November 9th, the interview itself will occur on November 10th!!!!!

My wife had her interview and was approved!!! :dance:

Some wrap up thoughts I have about this process as preparations begin for her arrival:

If you are contemplating long-term relationship with the intention of something permanent AND your significant other is an overseas national, start saving evidence of your relationship.

Do your homework, learn about the Embassy or Consulate your spouse or fiancee will interview at so you will know if the IV unit has seen a high amount of fraudulent cases or a low amount of fraudulent cases. In the event of high fraud, you will need to frontload your petition with relationship evidence.

Prepare well for the interview.

Take nothing for granted.

Once it's said and done, it will all be worth it.
