How he will do it by sitting on unemployment benefits???

My unemployment benefits are well in excess of the poverty standard. I made a significant salary until I became unemployed last year. I hope to have another job soon, but in the meantime I'm happy to have the benefits. My wife was just approved for her green card, and the only current income we have is my unemployment. We didn't need a sponsor.

Care,

Bill

My Unemployments benefits are above the poverty guilds but there is a difference between a K-1 Petition and a Spousal Petition. Since mine is a K-1 being over the Guildlines even on Unemployment is a Rejection for a Petition. It is not a Source of Permanant Income. I think telling members that being on unemployment and wishful about a Petition to be approved is Bad Advice.

Somehow, this became :ot: . Not relating to the OP's question. I'm guilty as well. There is enough information for the OP to make a prudent decision. Emotions come first, then the brain has time to think later.

Sorry to hear about your new discovery about your fiance. I think you are wise to carefully question what is going on. Being married is hard enough without having to worry about whether or not your spouse is being totally honest with you. There is always more to the story than what we read here, but, it sounds like your fiance would have a difficult time filling out the affidavit of support forms necessary to get an approval. More importantly, it sounds like your fiance is hiding something from you.

Amor e fé nas obras se vê.

My main concern would be your happiness and welfare.

Reading this made me think of another possibility. He wants her not to work so she is more dependant on him. If she has not money on her own and just dependanat on his money/benefits and he keeps those at a subsistance level she is effectively stuck .

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

What if his benefit's change ? There is a backlash in America about this now. Just be informed and be aware that if you have no work history, you will never get ahead. Building a career and experience and the road to more money takes experience and time. Don't waste it. Be very informed on this subject and be aware that the benefits could change 5,10, 20 years from now. America is burdened with debt and there will be pressure to reduce benefits to those who don't need them or take them away.

There is a saying... 'If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck...it's a duck'. Meaning that when everything points to 1 thing - it is what you think it is. You may not like what it seems to be, but better to find out early. Yes you are/were in love with this person, you thought they were the one, you had a future together....but other things point to the fact that he is not.

You and your fiancé should not be having secrets from one another, you should be able to have open and honest discussion without fear of offending the other person or thinking they might be hiding something at this point.

This must be very disappointing.

It is very disappointing, you have no idea. We had everything planned, he even got me the engagement ring so.. you have no idea... but I'm thankful I have found out about this now. God's been really amazing.

Oi Mari, thanks for the advices. I would never wish this to anyone, so I'm happy that my case is here to show what people are capable to do for money.

Thank you all guys.

also, there's another saying that fits now.. "I prefer the worst truth is better than the best lie" (or something like that, sorry for the English)
