Hi all,

Update. We received a NOA for an interview on November 16, 2011. But I have not received the EAD yet. Is the EAD supposed to come first before the NOA for interview, isn't it? Has anybody in here have the same experience? How do you prepare for the interview? Documents? My hubby could not add me to his bank accounts because I don't have SSN yet. We need the EAD to get SSN, and we need SSN to get a bank account together.

Congrats on the interview, I have seen people on here get an interview before the EAD. It happen :) Not sure who told you that you need an EAD to get a SSN but that is not true at all. You can get a SSN about 10 days after entry to the US. My husband did and he only just got his EAD email last week but he has had his card since shortly after his POE. Top of the SSN card says "Valid for work only with DHS authorization" so people know he needs an EAD to work.

Hi VJers. Longtime lurker, first time poster. Been sitting at home with nothing to do except go crazy hoping everything goes well so I've decided to post.

Im hoping someone has gone through the same process as I have and may be able to shed some light on my situation.

I received my IL on 10/11 for an interview on 11/10

I then received rescheduling on 10/15 for an interview on 11/14

I then reveived my cancellation on 10/17 for the interview on 11/10

So far so good right? No loose ends, 11/10 was cancelled officially so my new interview is on 11/14.

Today (10/25) i received ANOTHER IL for an interview on 11/29 <---- What is this??

It's not a cancellation letter, nor a reschedule letter. Its almost as if I hadn't received an IL and this is my first one. The Application number is the same and i've verified the info and it is indeed addressed to me correctly.

Anyone got any ideas?

We got our EAD after our Notice for the interview...some people even get the ead card after they have received the green cardwacko.gif it all depends on how fast they are approving applications.

For our AOS interview we brought two months of bank statements, a credit card that we are both on, letters from 2 friends stating that we live together and such, also our phone bill that shows both of our cell phones are on the same plan, and pictures. See if you can be added to one of his credit cards or lease. We were not able to add my husband to the lease because he did not have a job when we tried and we explained that at the interview and the gentleman understood.

That makes no sense no wonder you are confused...have you called the USCIS and see if they can clarify? If not maybe an infopass appointment at your local office if it is not too far away and see if they could make sense of it. OR just go to the interview on the 14th and bring all of the letters with you and be prepared for your interview

haha no it doesnt. I called the help number and as much as i want to say they are trying their hardest, they don't really answer your question, they try to give you an answer for a question that they THINK you are asking, AKA they're pretty much no help.

My office is about 1.5 hrs away from me and I don't have a DL (nor can i get one right now: WHERE IS MY EAD??!?). My wife takes days off to drive us there but since she is the only money maker, its a killer when she takes a day off. I guess I'll need to schedule an infopass, but i guess im just hoping for similar experiences to take my mind off it.

The thing is its a pain bc I do have a lawyer that is supposed to be at the interview with us and obviously i would want him there at the correct date. (Time is money)

Still, just knowing you reply is a nice relief that someone knows my frustrations haha.

Ok So i called the USCIS hotline again just for giggles, and got someone who sounded relatively young, and competent. Spoke clearly and made every effort to understand my specific question.

They basically said since you did not receive a cancellation notice for your rescheduled 11/14/11 interview, show up to the 11/14 interview date and bring both notices (11/14 and 11/29). Supposedly they should let me in and have my interview that day. Explain to the IO's at the interview that I have 2 dates, and after having my intial interview, a) they're going to either cancel the 11/29 interview or b) determine that i need to come in for a 2nd interview, and keep the 11/29 date since it is already reserved for me.

Of course, this is just what the guy on the phone said to me and what i interpreted so I think i'm just going to go the 11/14 one and notify my lawyer of that date and take my chances that what the USCIS phone guys says is true. If you are in the same boat as me, don't take this post as truth as I may be wrong and all cases are different. Of course if I change my mind and decide to go to the infopass, i'll update again.

Hey, i called USCIS too and ask them about it they basically told me what they've told you that since i didn't get the cancellation for the Nov.14 schedule to show up that day. I hope they're right but either way i got no choice but to show up i rather drove over there twice rather than receiving a letter saying that they denied my application because i didn't show up for the interview. Anyways Goodluck to us. my schedule on nov.14 is 10:30.We might see each other over there :)
