Hello everyone:

We filed AOS in 8/2011. My status-USC. My wife status: F1 visa, she is on OPT now. We live together in California.

1. How many interviews are there for the AOS application?

I think probably 3 interviews: Biometrics interview, Advanced Parole interview and final interview for the Green Card.

2. How long will it take to process AOS package and get interview scheduled?

I think it's case-by-case, normally it took 4-6 month. It might be longer right?

Jeff

In these cases, typically only one interview is performed unless your marriage seems suspicious--then another may or may not take place.

The biometrics is not an interview, but it is an appointment for which your wife will have to appear. It is not an interview as no questions are aksed about the case; it is just an appointment to capture her biometric markers.

For the processing times, it is a case-by-case, but 4-6 months is typically pretty accurate. Some get it done sooner--some later.

Also to add to the previous response, there is no separate interview for AP or EAD. After you have done your biometrics, your AP and EAD will be issued usually within 30-60 days - and the biometrics is only about getting the applicants fingerprints and photo taken, no interview involved. After that the next thing will be the AOS interview. USCIS will send you an appointment letter with the date, time and location of the interview.

Processing time also vary based on your location - some USCIS offices are busier than others, so for example NYC filers tend to have a bit longer processing times than people filing in smaller cities. Ours took less than 5 months from start to finish, but there are some people who filed in NYC in November/December, and are still waiting to get an interview - so the processing times really vary quite a lot from case to case.

Jeff,

Our AOS was a little different because my wife came with a K-1 visa, but we didn't have an interview for the Advance parole, it jsut got approved after the biometrics got done. We did have a biometrics appointment, but it was not an interview. And now we have an interview scheduled for our AOS on September 8th. regarding the time frame, please take a look at my timeline below to give and an idea.

my wife had zero as biometrics is not an interview, you will likely have one

You will most likely have one. Biometrics is just a quick fingerprinting/photo taking appointment, no interview done. AP also does not require an interview, that is just approved and mailed to you. Since you are adjusting from a visa where you didn't have a previous interview you will have an AOS interview. Assuming your marriage is not deemed suspicious, that will be your only interview. General processing time of everything is in the range of 4-6 months, usually, but it depends on where you live - check the status of your local office to see how quickly or slowly they are processing applications right now.
