Hi I'm new here so I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place.

My husbad has been in AP since July 12. I've been following few timelines similiar to mine with no results yet. I would love to hear from those who have had success from AP.

I'm starting to feel that AP is a never ending journey, as if there is no light at the end of the tunnel. I cant make any plans for the future because I dont know what the future holds for us :(

We're in AP too, since August 3. I know it's only been a few weeks for us and one month for you, but I find this part way more stressful than the time leading up to the interview. At least we had people we could compare ourselves to and we knew the general timeline and where we stood. This could go on forever (well, not literally).

Everything I've seen published by the US government states that they try to have it wrapped up within 60 days, however each case is different and some may take longer.

I wish VJ kept AP statistics so that we could easily look up past cases for some kind of guidance or at least a small piece of mind.

Do you know why you're in AP?

You are dealing with a difficult situation in a difficult country. You will just have to learn to sit back & wait. Calling someone everyday for example is a total waste of time. You cant call the people dealing with the A P process anyway. You can talk to someone at USCIS that will tell you they dont know. This will serve to frustrate you more but if you feel you need that type of help give them a call.

A P is a seemingly never ending road. It has to end because we have seen others succeed after going thru it. Those cases are the light you are looking for. Pakistan is in the top few most difficult places to deal with. Unless you are a Navy Seal.

We;ve been on AP since June 15th.... I know the pain... our anniversary is in less than two months...who knows if it will be one together or one online once again... I think what frustrates us is that we always hear that pakistan is mandatory ap no matter what... and then we see visas issued to some men within a week after interview.... and then others like us actually go thru the whole ap process...

I know every case is different but the normal processing for pakistan is quite wide with the results...i guess thats what makes us frustrated...bcos there isnt a pattern to base everything by

all we can do is wait...call DOS once a week or ev two weeks.... email embassy for updates every few weeks... and wait....

The last time i spoke with DOS the girl told me that islamabad sometimes doesnt give updates regularly so ther maybe things going on thtey arent aware of until the embassy is ready to issue visa then they get that update and process the visa...i asked her this bcos on july 25th the co told us he was putting my husband in name checks now that the review was done but dos has nothing on namehcecks beginning and no updates..urghhh....

i wish they would tell us about our case instead of pending... they dont have to give full details but wish they could say...you have 3 items to process... 2 have been completed and you are in the last one.... but instead its pending.....

wish you the best and inshallah this will end soon

AP is very hard to deal with. My husband is in AP also. He was in AP about 2 months when he was called to come in for a second interview. Then he was put back into AP. That second interview was 3 months ago. He wasn't told he was approved or denied so we are just waiting.

I decided to come to Pakistan to spend the summer with my husband and sense I have been here the embassy won't answer any of my emails. If I want to know the status of our case I have to call DOS in Washington and pay international rates for the call.

The way the embassy in Islamabad treats people is a crying shame. They know it's almost impossible to get through on the phone and many times they won't answer emails.

I have 2 friends that had husbands on AP in Pakistan. One lady had her husband in AP for 8 months and the other lady's husband was in AP for 4 months. Both husband's got their visa's.

We had to send additional paperwork after our first interview it took 3 months for them to review it. Now we have spent 5 months in AP. That's 8 months so far waiting for a decision. I am hopeful we will get the visa. My husband has lost hope and feels we will be denied.

May God bless you and may your wait in AP be a short one.

Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement. It's nice to know there are others going through this process. May this journey be short for us and may we be united with our loved ones soon! Ameen!

The CO never gave us a reason for our AP. She kept his passport and gave him the form 221 g. Did not request any documents. She said they'll call us when our Visa is ready.

I just wish I understood the reason for our AP. I cant think of any except that he's from a suspicious country.

He's tried calling the Islamabad Embassy without any success. No one even picked up, He waited ½ hour then his card finished.

I called DOS and they said their job ends after scheduling the interview and that they are not given any info after that.

I just have to wait and see what happens.

IDK if this helps or not but men from the MENA areas especially from pakistan usually have to undergo more security checks...more than likely he's in a simple name check... as long as it comes back without hits then the visa will be ready within a shorter amount of time. my husband was told at the interview that every male has to undergo mandatory ap and there isnt anything he can do about that he has to do it... sometimes the co does it prior to interview and sometimes like us it has to wait until docs are submitted that have been requested.... we didnt get namechecks begun until july 25th almost 6 weeks after interview.... hopefully yours will be finished soon.

Sounds like you called The National Visa Center not the Dept. of State(DOS) at 202-663-1225 press 1 then 0.

The DOS will give you status updates. They can tell you if you are still in AP and if the embassy needs anything from you. They can also tell you if your visa has been issued. I call them every week. I just say I'm calling to check the status of my case.

When you call them have your case number and birth dates ready.

Thank you Eabbas. Your words of encouragement are always appreciated. Carolyn, I probably did call NVC. I sure will call that number first thing on Monday.

@Candle: I'm so sorry you've been in AP for that long. I thought If your in AP for longer than 120 days you can contact someone b/c all of the research I've done says that the AP should be over in 120 days. This is injustice to you.

Ap is administrative processing, it's can be apply for any country. That's when after interview they don't make decision right away. So some people have to go through more than 1 interview before embassy decides if you pass the interview. It's usually happens if they have suspicions or not enough evidence, or some documents were missing during interview. My husband from Turkey as well, we are awaiting on interview, our case was closed august,10. Good luck to you!!!

This also happens for people from MENA countries or the *T* countries ..... ISlamabad usually puts 99% men thru this whether its for two weeks or months....Islamabad now has a Mandatory AP time frame. But don't focus on that..for now focus on your current situation and which process your in now. AP can be a dark place of the unknown but it DOES end!!!!
