Authorities in Oklahoma are on the hunt for a man who didn't show up for a court appearance Monday for his rape trial, and who has ties to the Oathkeeper movement and believes his arrest was part of a government conspiracy.

Charles Dyer, a former U.S. Marine who served in Iraq, was arrested and charged in January of 2010 on two separate counts -- one charge of possessing an unregistered grenade launcher that was registered as stolen from a military base in California, and one charge of raping a minor. In April, a judge declared a mistrial after the jury couldn't reach a decision.

On Monday, Dyer was scheduled to appear in court for the beginning of the new trial, but did not. His bond was revoked, and the judge issued a $500,000 bench warrant for his arrest.

In a bizarre twist, Dyer's house burnt down on Friday -- and his girlfriend was arrested for suspected arson, according to KFOR News.

"We're sure he's going to be armed," said Stephens County Sheriff Wayne McKinney of Dyer. "There's no doubt about that."

McKinney also said that Dyer had begun posting messages threatening local law enforcement: "If the sheriff's office came to his house, he was loading his weapons and putting his bullet-proof vest on and having a showdown with us."

"What concerns me is his ties with some of these very radical groups," McKinney said.

Dyer's family members gave Oklahoma's News 9 a three-page e-mail he sent to his attorney early Monday morning. "I have taken this final opportunity while I am still alive to make a statement to the public," Dyer writes.

"I have been pushed to the limits multiple times by law enforcement and the judicial system in an attempt to cause me to take violent action against them," he continued. "If I do, I know I will be the monster they depict me as."

"Our judicial system is nothing more than a system of liars and crooks working under the color of the law, where the rich go free and the poor are made to suffer injustice. Something MUST be done to expose it," Dyer wrote.

He also had a message for his parents: "If you do not hear from me within 90 days, then I am dead and I have failed you."

Dyer, who became known for posting YouTube videos under the name July 4 Patriot, is a member of the Oathkeeper militia movement, and also had ties to the Tea Party.

First of all, there's no such thing as a "former" Marine.

And the Oathkeeper "militia movement"? That's laughable! Which "very radical groups" was the sheriff talking about?

Just like we're starting to see the Tea Party being turned into a RWN terrorist group, we're going to see groups like the Oathkeepers and many others also defamed and brought under scrutiny.

Sad, really.

If this dude broke the law, he should absolutely be brought to justice. But, he should have his fair day in court. Sounds to me like he's not going to be able to get a fair trial by a jury of his peers in a county where the sheriff thinks the Oathkeepers are a radical group.

Is that so?

And I suppose that's why Former Marine Dakota Meyer is being awarded the Medal of Honor?

Former Marine corporal to be awarded Medal of Honor

By Joby Warrick and Greg Jaffe, Published: August 12

A former Marine corporal who repeatedly braved enemy fire in attempting to rescue four comrades in Taliban-infested eastern Afghanistan has been selected to receive the Medal of Honor, the highest award given to members of the armed services, the White House announced Friday.

Dakota Meyer, a former turret gunner and scout sniper from Kentucky, is only the third living veteran of the Afghan and Iraqi conflicts to be chosen for the honor, and he is the first living Marine to be designated for the award since 1973.

So you don't think that a group that advocates breaking military orders if their wholely unqualified opinion tells them that they are breaking the constitution is an extremist group? Just what we need, a bunch of imbeciles running around the military, interpreting the constitution themselves.

Yep. Unfortunately he'll probably be shot by this bigot of a sheriff.

So he's a bigot because in his opinion, the Oath Keeper movement is a RWN group? They aren't as bad as those appleseed nutjobs, but they are actively supporting treason.

When you were in the military did you ever question any orders?

Keep in mind, it's not illegal to disobey unlawful orders. As a matter of fact, a military member is obligated to disobey unlawful orders.

So he's a bigot because in his opinion, the Oath Keeper movement is a RWN group? They aren't as bad as those appleseed nutjobs, but they are actively supporting treason.

Yes. That's why he's a bigot. Read the definition of what a bigot is and then ask yourself why the sheriff sees that group as something other than they are. Oathkeepers does not support treason. Read my post above. It's not treasonous to disobey unlawful orders.

Your attempt at an insult by comparing oathkeepers to appleseed nutjobs is a poor one since both groups are neither supportive of treasonous activities or nutjobs. I guess you have problems with people who support and defend the constitution? No worries. You're far from alone. The majority of americans don't like it when people do that either. The government (and sheriff in this case) absolutely abhor the practice.
