Hi guys! this is marie..actually, im a neophyte in this site!!! whew!! this site is amazing!!! i cant help myself but to be amazed on how helpful this site is to people applying for fiancee or spousal visa.

for some info, I am from the Philippines. My fiance (from Texas) and I will meet for the first time this Friday. Anyway, this is our situation... All the supporting documents including the biographic forms, the letter of intent to marry, I-129F, proof of ongoing relationship etc. are complete already. We only lack the proof of meeting but its not a problem because we will be with each other soon... My fiance will submit the I-129F upon his return to the US this October.

My concern is, as of the moment I dont have a passport yet because I dont mind getting one before because I never thought i'll be out of my country. Well, I am pretty aware that my fiance can submit the I-129F even without the passport since it is not a requirement so that I-129F will be complete..

I can probably get my passport in December because of some reasons...Do you think it will not be that late? If things will go smoothly, will I do not need my passport by December????

Thanks for the ideas!!! :D

More Power!!! Godbless!!! :innocent:

It's hard to say. Petition approval time varies from consulate to consulate. Since December is only three and a half months away I'm guessing it won't be too late. Of course, this is just my opinion. You might want to do a search on other US/Phil couples to get an idea of the approval times.

Congratulations to you and your fiancé and I hope your meeting this Friday is wonderful for you both. :luv:

You will need your passport when you have your visa interview in the Philippies. Each case is processed at different speeds......... so with that said, make sure you have it by the interview date. Hope that helps. :P

Good luck Marie. Probably would be a good idea for you to start the process of getting your passport as soon as possible. Your K-1 application could languish at CSC forever, but you could get your approval rapidly, so best to be prepared for either eventuality.

I also want to say I hope your meeting goes wonderfully, I imagine you are very excited. Ingat!

My wife had hers. Her passport had to be 6 months old at the time of issue for the visa. Get the passport as soon as you can.

wrong!!!!!!

It has to have 6 months remaining before expiration.

For the OP....you will have plenty of time to get a passport....nothing is going to happen by December....maybe December of next year. You have a lot of special requirements for the P.I.s You had better familiarize yourself for the requirements spelled out on the web-site for the US Consulate in Manila.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

A Philippine passport is good for 10 years from the time of issue. The requirements to get it are strict. Stop by the DFA office in Manila and get two blank copies of the passport application. The back of the application has the instructions to complete it and lists the supporting documents required to get it. It is best to get your passport photo right at the DFA office (it only costs 100 Pesos) which is much cheaper than the Mall Photographers and they know exactly how to take the passport photos.

Being from Manila will make it easier to get everything you need. It is never too early to start gathering all the documents you will need. The key document is your NSO Birth Certificate. You can order one on-line at this link: https://www.ecensus.com.ph/Secure/frmIndex.asp. It will be mailed to you in about 4 business days.

Many NSO Birth Certificates in the Philippines have errors which need to be corrected (like missing names and typos). It is wise to find out now if you have any troubles, which will need to be corrected. Good luck!

Where are you from, Marie? You don't need to go to Manila if you are residing in the province and want to apply for a passport. There are DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) Regional Consular offices (less congested than in Manila) that could process your application within the timeframe standardized by DFA:

For Regular Passport:

(6 working days)

32 pages P500

64 pages P600

Overtime Processing

P250 in addition to regular fee (2 working days)

Q. Where can one apply for a passport in the Philippines?

A. In the Philippines, one can apply for a passport at the Department of Foreign Affairs main office at Roxas Boulevard corner Libertad, Pasay City or at any of its Regional Consular Offices in Cauayan, Isabela; San Fernando, La Union; San Fernando, Pampanga; Lucena City; Legaspi City; Iloilo City; Cebu City; Cagayan de Oro City; Davao City and Zamboanga City.

Guidelines on Passport Application: http://www.dfa.gov.ph/consular/passport.htm

FAQ's: http://www.dfa.gov.ph/consular/faq.htm

I pray that your meeting with your fiance will set the right directions for you. God bless!

 Otherwise that will have been a lot of work for nothing.

I still can't understand how people can get engaged to be MARRIED for a LIFETIME without even having met in person, but to each his own.

Welcome to VJ!
